You're saying Renaldo Snipes and Shavers had good fundamentals and were not as vulnerable to counters compared to Foreman...?

I knew someone would mention Shavers. Shavers did not remotely trouble Holmes bar one or two shots.

Some of them did yes. But I don’t think they were necessarily more skilled or talented than foreman

Retreating Norton was fish in a barrel.

He didn't have the legs and he knew it. Why use them when you can lay on the ropes, he will come right to you and you can potshot him with right hands? It is the same strategy James Toney used for years.
You and I both know that Kenny Norton was no mover. I reckon that either of us could cut the ring against him. The problem would be what to do when we caught him.

Foreman was carefully managed enough for you to believe that.

Norton was fragile and played to Foremans tune.
Smokin Joe was ripe for the picking and who was Lyle, Who did he beat?
Jimmy Young and Ali two durable guys who could fight made him look like he was still a prospect.

Tell that to Larry. He shivers to this day thinking about Shavers.

Anyway, you said that the people who hurt Holmes had good fundamentals and weren't as vulnerable to counters compared to Foreman and both Shavers and especially Snipes makes this statement pretty strange.

So surely you can show me all these fights prior to Zaire where Ali fought off the ropes succesfully, outslicking guys using cagey James Toney strategies? Ali was drawing on his wealth of knowledge and only used his legs in the 1st round just to amuse the crowd?

Yes, every opponent he beat was "tailor made" for Foreman and everyone who beat him "exposed" him. You clearly have no agenda whatsoever. I have never seen this argument before (sarcasm).

Your posts in this thread so far are so biased they make Joker look like a completely impartial poster in a Pacuiao thread.

He didn't fight that way because he didn't have to. He laid on the ropes a lot against Frazier but Frazier made him and Frazier, at least on that night was a notch above where Foreman was in Zaire.
Foreman was big strong and not too bright; he has said as much himself. Ali moved a bit because he was expected to try. He was also expected not to be able to do it for long or the Foreman people would not have taken the fight.
Ali moved a bit and then went to the ropes. In Foreman's corner they told him that all was according to plan.
And George got beat up while he thought he was winning.
