Larry on points. Too fast and great jab. although Evander was great. In a rematch I might pick Evander. He did beat Bowe in the rematch, and that was impressive. Although fan man helped I think. He gave Evander a rest when he needed it.

2 top ten ATGs should make the mouth water, but this would be a SD clinchfest, I fear, instigated by both parties but with larry showing the best action.

when fighter gets old they seem to absorbe the ring experience and know how to survive the lions. Such is the case of SRR, Emile Griffith, Bernard Hopkins,George Foreman,Archie Moore,Vitali,Holmes,Ali,Duran, etc. but a prime fighter may fight a different fight and engage in more of a war so they usually have a different battle plan when younger.

Survivial & winning are 2 different things. Griffith was competetive with Monzon & many other top guys at an advanced age but fought differently smarter less aggressive. Some fighters are suited for longevity because of style & some fighters have a shorter prime because of style. Evander hung in there with some younger lions when he started aging but James Toney was smart & went to the body & took him out.

Its hard to say what would happen when fighters are prime or if they have a style that allows them to age with it. Vitali had the style and condition to age well & so did Vlad who fought a war against young lion Joshua at an advanced age. Conditioning & taking care of your body are big factors of longevity.

Younger Holmes fought a close war with Norton & I think Holyfield was better than Norton so I see this fight as a competetive war prime for prime...could be a series

I concur with the first part. Holyfield doesn't have the power to hurt Holmes. And Larry's jab and movement would cause issues. Larry also had the strength to tie Holyfield up when he got in close.

The second part, no. Prime Tyson hurts Larry and stops him. Holmes was hurt too many times by lesser lights than prime Tyson. Prime Tyson would clean up whereas Weaver, Snipes, Shavers and Witherspoon didn't have the speed to finish him off.[/UOTE]

Well put. The trouble is lots of folks interpret hanging in there the same as capable of winning. 2 different things. Like you said, the old guys stop taking risks.

Evander wasn't the only one getting a rest.
