holmes was not that great.. simply like that... foreman, frazier, ali, tyson, joe louis,lewis.. all them were much more dominant in their primes

holmes was miles closer to tucker than tyson was to snipes in quality.... i will say more.. a prime tucker would give prime holmes a hard competitive fight just like spoon did beat him.. i don´t think even that tucker was any worse than spoon.. they were around in the same class.. prime vs prime. tyson destroys him

    .

What criteria would you use to quantify that?

    .
    Please do

Spoon didn't beat Holmes and Larry was close to 34 and past it when that fight happened. I specifically listed Holmes' prime as being between 1979-1981, not 1983

Witherspoon was a much better fighter than Tucker and certainly possessed more of the type of attributes to give Holmes problems.

If you think its that cut and dry then go with it.

larry holmes did start his professional carrer at 24(late) so he reached his prime late, he was in his prime from 1978 to 1982 so in 1983 he was only 1 year past his prime, he was pretty good in 1983,(you are saying that after of the time that he did beat berbick(1981?) he was not in his prime anymore, it is absurd) and no.. spoon was not much better than a 1987 tocky tucker. and tyson was much better than snipes, my criteria is watching both fighters fighting.. simple like that...

Being one year past one's prime is still past prime no matter how you cut it. And there were plenty of people who thought that he was already slipping a tad by the time he fought Cooney in June of 1982. Watch some of the fights he had around 1980. He was clearly faster and sharper than he was in 1983.

Spoon was regularly fighting the best of the division.. He gave Holmes fits, beat Renaldo Snipes, Tony Tubbs, Greg Page, Tillis, Smith, etc... The only win of note Tucker had going into the Tyson bout was Douglas, who had him outboxed for most of the evening before Buster quit... BTW, Tucker fought Tyson with an injured right hand and still took him 12 rounds without going down.

No kidding... And virtually nobody Tyson fought between 1985 to 1991 were in a prime Holmes' league either.. Kind of an inane argument.

If you're claiming that Tucker was as good as Witherspoon or that Holmes lost to Witherspoon, then you may want to go back and watch some fights. :good
