I can't comprehend how anyone other than a fool would favor Foreman, and the are some who aren't fools voting for him, so let's just say I'm perplexed. Someone like Lewis or Holmes was the foil for a guy like Foreman. I assume this is all based on the fact that Lewis got caught with big punches twice in his career, which is a very simple-minded way of thinking.
Well it depends what you mean by "favor". I gave Foreman a 30% chance....which is me saying that 1 in 3 or 4 fights against Lewis he may just catch him with a power shot and put him out. I don't think thats being completely unrealistic. I gave Frazier a 50% chance (the best I would give anyone). I think his style is a nightmare for Lennox, and styles make fights :thumbsup
Very few people in boxing history beat Lennox Lewis. Maybe Ali, Holmes, Liston, Tyson, etc. All weight classes included, of course.
Lewis head to head is a favorite against any of them. Maybe prime Ali, Louis, Tyson, Marciano & Dempsey have a slight chance but the rest don't have a prayer IMO.
The fact that a prime Lewis was knocked out by one punch against 2 slightly above average fighters, has to be taken into account. Lewis was always getting rocked it seemed, guys like Briggs, Bruno, and Vitali all made Lewis' legs buckle, it makes me wonder what skilled fighters like a prime Tyson or Foreman would do to him if they hit him. I feel most if not all are 50/50 for me, Lewis has what it takes to beat fighter on that list, but he could also lose to anyone on that list, on any given night.
how would louis beat lennox? i've seen very few louis fights so i can't really tell. it looks to me like he'd be undersized, and seems to be open to about anything from a guy with too much length over him. lennox looks like a nightmare for him.
Louis needs to give over the centre of the ring and forget about fighting at any range other than mid-range. Louis is great at ditching the jab and as a stalker he will be in no hurry so i'll guess that Lewis will be fighting reticent here. Boring opening rounds. Lewis might shade these rounds on the jab. But Louis is the puncher here in composite terms. He can land faster, he can counter without slipping or ducking by virtue of this fact. The difference is pretty serious. Two good chins (though weaker than most in terms of the top .1% spell heavy bias towards the fighter who is the better puncher in my view. Louis is seen as a "shuffler", but he had an extraordinary instinct for predicting his opponents positioning. Can't see Lewis outpunching him or staying out of harms way for the distance. So the ref stops Lewis after the first or second KD.
I'm very familiar with Liston's style, but I didn't really think the matchup through prior to my first post. He did have an excellent reach and jab, and his power was on par with Lewis's. He was the smaller man though, and likely not as skilled on the inside. On the outside, it's virtually even though. At their best, both are capable of stopping the other, Liston more likely to stop Lewis. But I think a Lewis decision win is just as likely, if not moreso than that. It's definitely a better matchup than Foreman.
Dear god....how long are you going to be posting like this for? I mean its a pretty funny movie and all, but theres no way you can keep it up for months and months
I favoured Ali, Holmes, Tyson, and Foreman against Lewis. I don't buy into Lewis' hype machine, he's a great fighter but he got knocked out by 2 b-class fighters so to say he's favourite h2h is absolutely ridicilious.
Lewis would have stopped Dempsey (TO LITTLE) and beat Marciano probaly by points the Rock was to ****ing determinned to be KO'D.. Liston would be 50-50 as with Holyfield who fought LL to a draw in 99, but Holy by then was 4-5 years past his best.. Ali and Holmes would have decisioned LL those 2 were the best of the best at boxing, LL would have had no answers for the speed and smarts of those guy's.. Foreman i believe would have stopped LL Early **** if Rahman KO'D LL i certainly see George doing it.. LL would have stopped a Prime Tyson who was to Damn short for the 6-5 Lewis, Tyson had problems with guy's 6-3 over, Tyson was blasted in 02, but by then Tyson was a decade beyond his best, Tyson wouldn't have been able to intimidate LL either, Tyson beat a lot of guy's on fear no way in hell he would have scared LEWIS..:-(
