Grant also beat Savarese, Izon and Golota. He had his ups and downs. I'd actually favor him to beat Parker, Grants certainly better than Whyte and Chisora
I'd take Grant who beat Golota 10/10 against Wilder. You must be grateful Wilder fights in such a terrible HW era.
Lennox irons him out, Wilder reacts in an emotional manner in the week following the bout. That's all, folks.
I,m new here and first a big hello to all and this great forum ! When it comes to the topic imho its not easy to predict. Without any doubt lennox is one of the greatest boxers , no question . On the other hand , if we like it or not , there are improvements in training methods , nutrition , trainer knowledge of modern tactics etc in comparision to the times of lennox prime time. Further wilder has proven that he has the power to stop a fight with one lucky bomb so any prediction becomes even more complicated. History tells us that in physical sports like athletics , weight lifting , rowing etc. World records are mosty set in relative recent times and not by sportsmen from the last century. I would guess its similar in boxing. So my heart goes to lennox lewis in his prime but realistically i think wilder would win this , the same way a nowaday top score weight lifter beats the world champion im his prime 20-30 years ago. Best regards
I’m going to add this statement to the debate too. . . Lennox Lewis’s 1-2 that KO’d Hasim Rahman was the best ever thrown in Heavyweight Boxing history and the right hand was harder than any that Wilders has ever thrown.
Lennox Lewis was boxing from 1989 - 2003, not 1959 - 1973 Lennox Lewis is a modern heavyweight. Lennox Lewis was 6f5 and weighed 255 pounds. His boxing ability is on another level to Deontay Wilders His conditioning was way better than Deontay Wilders. He had the trainer knowledge and tactics of Emanuel Steward, who was on another level to any of Wilders coaches. Wilder already made the mistake of packing on too much muscle for Fury, and blowing out of his own @$$ after 4 rounds. He had the great idea of going to the body, which is what any boxing fan would have advised him, let alone "trainer", but his energy was well and truly spent after he knocked Fury down in the 4th.
In 10 tries could Wilder pick up a win occasionally? Sure! He has the puncher's chance every time. But, in 10 Prime fights, both reconditioned between fights, I'd bet HEAVILY on Lennox Lewis coming out on top! VERY HEAVILY! I wouldn't be nervous about it either.
Genuine question.. is this a troll post? I mean, I agree Wilder > Grant but how can you give Wilder anything other than a punchers chance against Lewis? He's got a terrible jab and was regularly losing rounds to fighters Lewis would have obliterated. Lewis is insanely more polished and has huge power of his own in his right hand.
The idea Wilder doesn't have a great chance of bombing him out just shows the mythology around Lewis now. Wilder has faster hands and longer reach than the two guys who took Lewis's head off. And don't pretend Lewis has Fury's defence. Absolutely Wilder could let one rip and end the show. Wilder has also shown he can take some punishment and hang around a bit, both in the Ortiz and the Fury fights. He's at least a very live dog. And I'm confident if Lewis fought a trilogy with Wilder like Fury did, Lewis would end up unconscious in at least one of those.
LOL Wilder wasn't fast at all in fights 2 and 3. And Lewis would be favored heavily. Lewis is superior to Tyson Fury offensively. You just have to live with that fact Lewis 9/10 times would have Wilder out of there before Wilder landed a clean bomb on that chin.
