I think Foreman would win with the big punch. For those of you who say he never fought anyone bigger than he was with better boxing skills and only went down when he was gassed, take a look at Foreman VS Lyles. I can't remember exaclty but I think both guiys went down 3 or 4 times.
Foreman in his prime was a huge, strong bully for the opponents he faced. He never developed ring intelligence, because he KO'd most of his opponents so easily. Much like Liston and Tyson, he didn't have the type of mental strength to deal with a fighter he could not physically bully around. He had no plan B, no ability to adapt. Lewis was one of the smartest fighters at HW, he could change styles and would be bigger and at least as strong as Foreman. I see this fight going much liker Liston - Ali or Foreman - Ali or Tyson - Douglas, with Foreman getting frustrated, trying to do the same thing that always worked before, unable to adapt. Of course, once or twice out of ten, he might catch Lewis with the perfect punch.
prime is relative. George once was asked who would win between the second coming of George or the young George. He sais something to the likes that the old George would have beat the young one like a child. I tend to believe he had slowed down a bit in his old age, but he was much more confertable and used the ring to his advantage. Plus his defense improve considerably. Before his offense was his defense.
Again, you CANNOT mention any post-Ali fight when you're talking about prime Foreman. Ali broke his heart and his spirit.
George wasn't that big. He was the same size as Ali, he was just ****** strong with a sledgehammer punch and enough agression for six fighters. Lennox would be backing up with both arms straight out in front of him all night like he does when someone charges him, weakly trying to grab the onrushing George and Foreman would just blast him right out of there.
NO they ****ing DIDN'T. I SWEAR half the people in this thread never even SAW the Ali-Foreman fight. George CRUSHED Ali's ribcage, just CRUSHED it. He got in some good shots to the chin too, but Ali's chin and body were cast iron. Ali gave up the body TOTALLY to protect the head. No way in HELL Lennox can take those shots like Ali did. NO way.
For Lewis you are all required to discount his losses. He was pre-prime against McCall and under-prepared against Rahman. Prime Lewis has thus, never been KOED.
Sure, but who says Lewis is going to lay on the ropes? Conversely, there is NO WAY Foreman takes those straight right hands that Ali landed on him, from Lennox. The only puncher who landed on him during his prime, Lyle, nearly had him out of there and he's a farcry from Lewis. That's hardly a convincing argument though - Lyle, not nearly as skilled, powerful or big as Lewis, was a **** hair away from putting Foreman away and end it right there and then in the 4th or 5th.
Lewis by late TKO. He's a better boxer, bigger, smarter, throws sharper punches and won't be susceptible to Foreman's best punch, the uppercut, becasue he fights tall. Foreman will gas and Lennox will take him to school.
