I suspect Holmes is somewhat overrated because he competed in one of the weakest eras of the heavyweight division. Not quite the Bum of the Month Club but at the time all the boxing publications went on ad nauseum about how bad the heavyweight division was. Witherspoon was the only other heavyweight besides Holmes boxing magazines credited with having an iota of talent.
I think Lewis is h2h nightmare for anyone so going with him. I only really expect him to lose in upsets as a properly prepared Lewis is a beast. Thus I see someone like Greg Page getting he W over him - the first time around anyway - than your Ali's or your Holmes'. Now laugh it up ESB, I'm ready for the jeers that will no doubt accompany that last sentence.
Holmes has the toughs to recover from a knock down and get up to salvage a fight unlike Lenni. Holmes can easy outbox Lenni if Lenni can't bang him out of there
Lewis by late stoppage Larry’s Best punch was his jab but against a man bigger than him who also has more KO power and better footwork it’ll be his undoing. The problem with your Best punch is all your opponents know you’re going to throw it, that’s OK if you’re so much better than your opponent but when you’re not it’s a template to your defeat. Lewis would match the jab and counter Larry with big rights, by the end of the 6th Larry would be taking too many heavy shots which cumulatively would see him stopped by the 10th
I've always felt Holmes was a bad matchup for Lewis. He'd beat Lewis by competitive, yet clear decision in a pretty boring fight. Holmes was far more intelligent, which for me would be the difference.
Lewis by knockout! Hell, Renaldo Snipes almost knocked Holmes out with a wild right hand and his punches were very wide and wild!
