I would tend to go with Ali on this but either guy would be tough for anyone at anytime in history. I think Ali would time Lewis and get a UD win. If it's a 15 rounder, then maybe even a stoppage
Lennox wins. I know the popular wisdom is that Ali is some sort of unhittable, perfect fighter, but that's really not the case. Ali had flaws just like every fighter does. Lennox is to big and too good of a tactician. Many of Ali's tactics worked because Ali was the bigger, rangier man. When Ali did fight bigger guys, they were slow clumsy fools. Lennox would be the first tactically sound bigger man Ali would face. Ali will find hiself getting roughhoused in clinches, and he will have some problems with Lewis' long Jab (Ali's jab and movement will trouble Lewis too though) good fight, but Lewis wins.
Nobody thinks Ali is unhittable or perfect but in his prime he had enough of everything to get the job done here. Lewis needs to hope Ali has a bad night & that is unlikely if we are taking the all time best versions of both..... so Ali wins.
mavrovich who has nothing on ali was 6 foot 4 and weighed 215 lbs........gave lewis a tough go...........imagine a quick fast ali throwing rapid fire straight right hands throwing lewis off his game plan.........imagine size 15 feet lumbering around the ring trying to catch ali.......ALI WINS 15 RD DECISION.....I DONT CARE IF ALI IS OUTWEIGHED BY 30 LBS.....
Tough one. Lennox is a h2h nightmare when he's focused. But so is prime Ali. Ali had a great chin as well. I would worry if Ali didnt have the size and lenght but he does. Great Jab. Ive never seen a big man move like Ali and Lewis is a bit of a stiff. I see Ali by points, hes just too fast and elusive in his prime. For those who picked Lewis. How do you think hed win?? And dont give size and strenght as the answer
Love both of them as fighters but can't see past Ali by decision in this one. The very best Lewis would most likely beat the Ali that beat Foreman but he most certainly wouldn't beat the 1966-67 monster. Ali might be a bit smaller but he was bigger than Holyfield who gave Lewis a rough fight in the rematch. I think Ali jabs Lewis all night long and takes a comfortable decision prime for prime. I do think prime Lewis beats any version of Ali post 1970 though.
Tough one to call. I'd probably go with Ali by decision, but Lewis could win it, and not be a rank outsider. What most people - especially the ones that list huge immobile fighters Ali beat - dont' realise is that in the VAST MAJORITY of his fights, Ali was the bigger man. Not often was he outsized. And rarely (if ever) outsized by anyone with decent skills or ability. Foreman obviously. but with half a brain, Foreman would have won that fight with ease. He didn't, which speaks volumes about Ali of course, but is just as equally damning on Foremans ring sense.
