Ali and in convincing fashion. He was much faster, razor sharp jab, fluid combinations. And I feel as though he would get into Lewis` head. He had too much off everything for Lennox. And, this is what seperates the men from the boys. If Lewis famed right hand bomb found its way to Ali`s chin? Ali could take it, and recover and had the unbelieveable will to win... Ali would handily outbox Lewis and Lewis can`t get him out of there...
I don't agree. Text book wise, Lewis was a better boxer. When I watch documentaries and hear some of the old timers talk about Ali, something that is commented upon is that Ali did a lot of things "wrong" and got away with it because he was so athletically gifted. He pulled straight back from punches, circled to the left, didn't block punches with his gloves much etc. I would pick Ali to win btw, on points. I don't think there would be any fireworks to speak of.
Pretty much the post of the thread for me. I'm old enough to have seen both fight during much of their careers, having watched both the thrilla in Manila, and the Rumble in the Jungle. But truthfully Ali has become a myth and you can't beat a myth now can you? But if you focus on Ali the boxer, it's a much harder fight than many will admit. The Ali that beat Liston would be too green and too small for Lewis. And the Ali that fought Forman and Frazier, wouldn't have the same speed and was too stationary. Perhaps the Ali of the mid-late 60's was the real deal and would have won, but it's a tough call.
ALI WAS PAST HIS BEST AND ABOUT 13 LBS PAST HIS BEST FIGHTING WEIGHT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,AGAINST WEPNER:smoke:smoke:smoke
