Steward said Byrd wasn't good enough to be a sparring partner in the Lewis era.
So what does that make Wlads era when a shot to bits Byrd was the #1 HW in the division and the guy Wlad beat to become Champ:oops:

Holyfield first time he did, Holy second time he didn't control range as good. Tua was great control of range, I can't disagree there.

Wlad's success in controlling range is that it is quite rare that his opponent is able to set himself well enough to land a meaningful shot. Whether that's clinched up close or at the end of a jab.

Didn't Lewis drop a belt rather than face Byrd?? Don't trainers also quite often disparage other fighters when in comparison of their man?

I believe he did. To save himself the embarrassment of fighting a non punching blown up middle weight.

Trainers also quite often compliment fighters who are paying their bills.

Yeah but clinching isn't controlling range. If guys are being clinched to death , then they are getting past the jab and moving into range.

Clinching is contact with the other fighter. Controlling the range is ensuring there is no contact.

Guys are being groped and mauled more than they are stuck on the end of a jab going off fight footage.

both men have a chance of winning, LL has a good early chance but it depends on strategy. I think Lennox was more fluid and aggressive, Vlad stronger late better Jab.....chins both could be shook

Controlling the range is ensuring a fighter is always at the range you want them to be.

For instance Hatton controlled range against Zoo.

    Atleast that's my interpretation anyways.

Two huge guys with good right hands, but also highly susceptible to a good straight right. Both cumbersome movers who sometimes drop their hands way too low, but learned (to somewhat mask their weak chins) to use their height to stay out of range. Both learned to maximize their potential under the guidance of Emmanuel Steward.

I think the key is simply that Lewis would get his right hand in and ko Wlad before Wlad could do it to him.

    Lewis by mid rounds ko.

I think Lewis + Foreman are the Worst fights in history for Wlad.

Lewis KO2 , in 10 of 10 - Lewis still Wins all , complete mismatch.

Peak Wlad by early KO, counter to hater trolls Lewis's chin is far worse than Wlad's and he is easier to hit. Added to Wlad having more power, especially the left hook, better jab, better defensively and footwork it all equals a win. A poor referee like the one vs Vitali, who let Lewis dirty box, would be his only hope.

I seen a forum where this guy had sparred loads of the top heavyweights in the 90s, he didn't give his name, but he claimed to have sparred Tua, Lewis, Holyfield, even GEORGE FOREMAN and he said that Wlad hit harder than all of 'em, but I do think prime Lewis would knock him out early as Wlad crumbled when he started to get tagged hard, first big punch Lewis hits him with ,and he would because he had the skill to, it would be over for Wlad

Two giants standing idle with baby steps looking to throw monster rights behind pawing jabs. My foot would be asleep by round three with the rest of me catching up by round seven. Lewis ko late.

Frazier will get tossed around like a rag doll. He was good for his era, but that's about it. He doesn't even last 3 rounds against the Klitschko brothers, Lewis,Tyson or any of the great HW's from the 90's and early 00's.
Sanders might not be that great of a boxer, but he would simply obliterate Frazier on power alone.
