But Lewis would have been 100% dedicated against Wlad. Wlad have the greater left hook but Lewis have the far greater upper cut. Wlad is a great champion and top 10 ATG HW. So is Lewis. Wlad is a great sportsman as well. I agree Wlad is best of his era. I disagree Pulev would have lasted longer against Lewis. Lewis bomb out super heavyweights. In fact no super heavyweight have lasted past 7 against Lewis outside of Tucker. And Tucker lost almost every round. Golota/Grant/Biggs/Briggs/Vitali/Henry A/Ruddock.......etc.
Wlad have the bigger fan base on ESB though. The vast majority of British and Lewis fans have went to CHB and Boxing Scene.
Does Wlad have a punchers chance like Rahman and McCall, of course he does but Lewis is the more versatile fighter with the greater pedigree. Had the fight actually happened Lewis KO's Wlad inside 3 rounds.
Wlad's a fantastic fighter. So is Lewis. Anyone too narrow minded to see this as a close fight is probably being influenced by reasons like race/nationality/bias/. Wlad got the greater distance control, Lewis got the far greater inside game. Wlad got the greater hooks, Lewis got the greater upper cuts. Both got massive rights. The slight edge to Lewis is due to his ability to rough things up in clinches and his body combinations. The combos to the body he threw against Mercer and years later against Tua is something I haven't seen from Wlad.
I don't see the versatility there for Lewis. I don't see him capable of moving left or cutting off the ring going left. I don't remember ever seeing him do anything like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF8dcFvMEJs
Are people still saying that Wlad can't take a punch? Seriously? If you really think that a Heavyweight Champion can have 18 title defenses in a row without even being knocked down and yet also have a glass chin, then you are following the wrong sport. You clearly don't understand how glass chins work.
There is also a good chance of this turning into a extremely boring and shitty fight. With Wlad winning by some sort of 7-5 scorecard. Or maybe a SD win for Wladimir. Let's not act like both men are animals who will tear into each other with not a thought for their suspect chins. I could easily see a much more skilled and closely contested version of Wlad-Sultan.............. in which case I will favor Wlad to take home a decision. Since Wlad is the greater boxer. And that's not a insult to Lewis(who's a great boxer himself)
People mention "Wlad's left hook is the difference" Lewis had his own 2nd punch. An upper-cut. He'd have thrown that during those clinches.
Wlad has better defense, better jab, better straight right, better left hook and much better balance and movement.... AND more experience. The only thing that Lewis has better than Wlad is his uppercut, but Wlad isn't in position to be hit with that punch. Wlads reign as Champ makes Lewis' look laughable.
It doesn't matter if Wlad have a glass chin or not. He knows how to protect it. He does have a suspect chin but it doesn't matter. It will matter in a toe to toe war/dog fight. But Wlad will NEVER do that again. He only did that in his youth. Wlad is a top 10 HW ATG. But neither him(or Lewis) got a great chin. Or even a very good one.
He keeps his opponents at the end of his Jab so his Chin rarely gets touched. Lewis will test his chin for sure. Because there's no chance in hell Wlad is keeping Lewis of him with just a jab.
