The oldest, heaviest and slowest version of Lewis took everything prime Vitali could handle and was able swing the momentum of the fight his way. Not to mention Lewis hadn't fought in 12 months and so was rusty which would explain his slow start and it taking him a few rounds to find his range. Prime Lewis, would be quicker, start faster and not struggle with the pace as much as he did. I see Lewis grinding Vitali down in about 7 rounds, I can't see it any other way. It would be another brutal affair but there is only one winner. Vitali who has shown he can box very effectively from range and dominate his opposition this way. But he could not keep Lewis off him like other opponents and he simply does not have the inside game to beat Lewis there or the speed to keep a big, fast Lewis off him. And Vitali hit old Lewis with everything he had and still couldn't keep him off him let alone KO him which seems the usual reason anyone picks against Lewis. How could Vitali do any better than he did?
this thread. I wonder what caused Vitali's face to literally be torn apart? It couldn't have been Lewis beating the **** out of him once he woke up and realized he was in a fight...nope atsch
Guys there is literally no point in talking to these idiotic Klitschko fans about this topic. They just don't get it! Let's just deal with the facts. Old, poorly motivated Lewis TKO'd Vitali in 6!
All depends on what you define as looking great, I mean considering vitali's dominance over his opposition he himself has only ever looked less than dominant in two digits, one against byrd where he could have suffered his injury as early as round 3. Then against lewis. So lewis is the only man to ever take an injury free vitali out of his comfort zone. In vitali's entire career, including his comeback, noone has ever damaged vitali like lewis did. New lewis didn't look as great as he had done earlier in his career but he went to war with a prime vitali and he came out on top. That itself is great. How many other times had lewis been to war? Against mercer, bruno, briggs and holyfield. Now only holyfield there is on vitali's level. But holyfield of 99? A man atleast 6 years past his prime, a man who would go to share a series with join ruiz. Compared to a prime vitali, a man who would go onto establish himself as the next heavyweight champ. It could well be argued that vitali is the greatest man in his prime that lewis would war with. Winning that war is great imo.
I just keep it real, I don't lie or post obvious BS. I give my opinion. And here is my rhetorical question on the subject; if a very poor version of Lewis beat Vitali, how the hell would a peak version lose?
Every deluded Klitschko fan seems to conveniently forget this piece of information, they don't even seem to know the career details of their own boxer. Boswell was 22-0 with 16KO's at the time and Vitali's trainer is quoted as saying No question he is dangerous. Somebody who is undefeated and won 16 times inside the distance can punch hard. We have to wait and see whether he will fight as courageous against Vitali. We are definitely beware of Boswell." Combine this with the fact that Lewis and Vitali had already agreed terms to fight later that year even before Kirk Johnson pulled out. So Vitali was well prepared for Boswell and was aware his next fight was against Lewis so clearly had an eye on him and readying himself for an eventual showdown with Lewis.
Exactly. :good Vitali simply doesn't have the one punch power to KO lewis like McCall and Rahman did. He hit Lewis with several flush shots and while he hurt Lewis could never put him down.
So how can you compare Lewis being KO'ed early in 2 fights by one punch with Vitali who has shown he cannot KO Lewis with one punch. It would be as ludicrous as me saying that because Vitali as been stopped twice on injuries he could always lose by injury in every fight with Lewis. While it is possible it is no guarantee. Any KO coming from either fighter would not come from one punch, as Vitali proved he doesn't have the one shot power to take advantage of Lewis' biggest weakness and Vitali is too durable to be taken out by one punch by even Lennox's vaunted power.
Well if you rememer Lewis was trying to get a rematch with Tyson after the Vitali fight and only when the WBC put their foot down and Lewis could find no way out of a rematch Vitali did retire.........
