Honestly I was a MAB fan when the 2 fought as I favored his aggression. However as I watched the fight and listened to the biased commentary JMM landed the harder punches and MAB couldn't keep up. I saw both fighters as having been past prime, but still close. JMM a bit fresher whereas MAB had been in several wars. Should have been a bigger affair than what it was, but JMM was still relatively unknown, both PAC leftovers. The fight would have been closer but similar at 126. I could see it being a toss up with me slightly favoring JMM.
JMM only struggled with Mayweather and Bradley, at an advanced age and higher weight class. JMM was at 126 his whole prime, was a tall, lanky and somewhat speedy fighter at that weight class. He is very short, stalky and slow for a welter. He relies primarily on his timing now. MAB in his prime and at his best was an aggressor and would have probably chased after JMM. MAB was trying to emulate Chavez style back in those days. It would have been a classic bull vs matador.
