At 140, I think Maidana would get too reckless and get caught.

It would have played out the same way as the Lucas fight imo.

I go with Madiana. I think his defense was better. In a war of attrition, that could make all the difference.

It'll be something unpredictable but in the end it'll be right and everyone will have the time of their lives.

Maidana's been badly hurt in many fights. I've never seen Provodnikov hurt.

His defence was better but his chin wasn't.

Maidana isn't Chop Chop, Augustus, or Alvarado.

I think a prime Ruslan would be a bad matchup for Maidana.

Then again, I probably picked Ruslan to beat Lucas (though didnt expect Lucas to box)

Id probably take Ruslan to win by late stoppage over Miadana, even if I dont think hes necessarily the better fighter overall.

Maidana is more versatile, provodnikov got his ears boxed off by caveman molina.

Maidana was never stopped. Ultimately he has the track record with a gulf between them if we take away the Bradley war. Which was razor close (Timbo by 1 point for me) but in that same brawl Maidana does better than Bradley. So not sure. I do think it makes the distance. I just think Maidana probably damages him. People point out Maidana's weakest moments but don't do the same for Provodnikov. If we're talking at their best? Hard time seeing Prov on any sort of pedistal(sp?) above Maidana.

    I hear you.

Maidana was never stopped. But outside of a 22 year old Ortiz, where he was dropped repeatedly, I question that he faced anyone that would be landing the type of firepower that Ruslan would be.

In this matchup, I just view Maidana as the softer fighter. This will be a punishing fight, and thus I lean towards the one that imo has the sturdier chin, the better stamina, with comparitive power.

I dont put Ruslan above Maidana, I actually rate Maidana higher, I just think in the specific head to head that his weaknesses dont match up well with Ruslan.

To me, although hes tough, hes the softer fighter in this particular matchup, in what will be a grueling fight, where he will have the lesser chin and against a devastating puncher with the better stamina.

Does Maidana last the distance with Ruslan? Sure I can see it happening, Ruslan is ultra limited. Could the sometimes more dynamic Maidana show to be a level above? I could see it.

I just lean towards Ruslan, as I think in a one on one, for the type of fight it will likely be, he doesnt match up well with Ruslan.
