I've seen him run into jabs, it usually happens when he is punching himself off balance which he has a habit of doing. I dont value foot postitioning in this fight because I've seen Floyd land right hands whether his foot was inside or outside. Where your feet are doesnt mean you cant land a shot. These two aren't your average fighters so feet positioning wouldnt be that big a deal.
Floyd has fought more primed opponents than Manny. Manny never fought someone as good as Floyd either so why is Floyd UD crazy? If Manny struggle terribly against JMM. I think he would be embrassed by Floyd. And for the people who thinks JMM and Floyd fight nothing alike. Floyd fights better. Thought process. Use it.
I think the cold hard fact is that at no point in their careers were Marquez, Morales or Barrera even close to as good or better than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Nobody sane rates them higher on ATG lists.
Yeah, but you can use the same argument against Floyd's opponents. None were as good as prime Pac. edit: well, except for JMM.
Well JMM is definitely at Pac's level. And JMM is not on Floyd's level. At one point. Hell an over the hill Morales was at Pac's level. And the two unknowns that beat Pac was on Pac's level. :deal
That's true against stationary opponents but when dealing with a moving target, they both attack in straight lines. I wholeheartedly disagree, it's the fact that Marquez gets hit more frequently which gives you that impression. Floyd catches his opponents (including Marquez) as they're throwing more often than Marquez does. He has better reflexes, Marquez needs a lot of time to get his body ready to fire a punch. He only does that against guys he can time, I don't think he'd be able to time Floyd. At least not consistently. His ability to close the distance against an opponent who can step back quickly is not very good. I see Floyd mostly standing his ground with occasional retreats. It's not risky to move to your right against southpaws if you're ducking down like Floyd does : This content is protected And yet slow ass Marquez nearly beat prime Pac twice.
Not quite, Manny steps over towards his right when an opponent is on the move. It's how he was able to get to Bradley and Marquez in the 4th more often than he did to Marquez in the 3rd. Floyd is less of a moving target than either of those two were which is my point, the angles become easier to use. Couldn't disagree more, Marquez throws in between an opponents punches much more often than Floyd does. Floyd's counters are a two-step process, and so are Marquez's, but he throws simultaneous shots more frequently. He has to due to his being a shorter counter-puncher. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected He's timed everybody with it, including Marquez. Even in the 3rd fight when he was thoroughly outboxed he landed that shot. Consistency is something I can't envision because it depends on the first half of the fight, and my argument is that early, Floyd is vulnerable to the straight left. It is risky to move to your right, in fact bending down towards the rear hand is a worse liability. At least riskier than moving to your left. Ortiz favors his right hook over his left straight, but Manny adjusted to Bradley's ducking low towards his rear hand and started aiming at where his head was going to be: This content is protected This content is protected Floyd is better than Bradley defensive and will surely make him miss, that right to the body is a shot that will be available to Floyd throughout most likely, but that stance and direction of movement is far from full-proof. Andre Ward did the same thing to Dawson (in the opposite stance) that Manny did to Cotto, when each fighter bent towards their rear hand planted without circling: This content is protected This content is protected I don't think you can call Marquez slow. He's not as fast as he used to be but Memo helped him a lot.
Floyd was actually going directly in line of Ortiz' straight left...mainly because Ortiz is a one handed fighter and that left is really weak. I think Floyd would try to close the gap and eliminate the southpaw angle and that could make for some excitement early. Floyd might even get put down trying to reach with his right...but he adjusts too much and Pac's lead hand isn't authoritative enough to stop the jab and straight right. I think Floyd ends the fight walking him down.
Mayweather could punish from the outside or take him to down in the pocket, prime for prime, Mayweather is just a much better fighter IMO.
Watch the Mosley fight, all Mosley did was circle to Pac's left and Pac was unable to cut off the ring by stepping to his right. Floyd This content is protected of a moving target than Bradley and Marquez? That's a pretty shocking statement. :huh Marquez is leading in the Pac and Diaz 2 gifs. We can go gif for gif if you want. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Marquez is much more stationary than Floyd (legs and upper body) and easier to time. Floyd is one of the least predictable fighters I've ever seen and he's also one of the best at figuring out what the other fighter tries to do. Mosley sets up his punches by flicking his jab = Floyd checked him everytime Mosley flicked the jab and neutralized his offense; Zab drops his hands when he's ready to throw a counter left uppercut = Floyd waited until Zab put his hands back up before hitting him. If you and I know that when Pac leans to his right he's ready to counter a jab with a left hand, Floyd would figure it out pretty quickly. Not to mention he barely jabs against southpaws. There's a difference between bending to your right like what Bradley did and ducking down while moving to your right like what Floyd does. If you start by getting low first and then move to your right, like making a U with your upper body, then it's safe. What you're describing is doing like this ∩. Look at them side by side : This content is protected This content is protected Bradley's head is up in the center and then goes down to his right, Floyd does the opposite, down and up.
Bogo is a closet *******. He tries to act like he is not but he is indeed a *******. Finds a few clips and generalize things. He can't tell whats the obvious pick to save his life. As others has pointed out he is a good writer. IMO he wants to make his opinions as a fact but the fact is that he is wrong.
