Prime Rocky Marciano versus the following versions of these men that Tyson fought in his first reign.

    Bonecrusher Smith
    Pinklon Thomas
    Tony Tucker
    Mike Spinks
    Frank Bruno
    Carl Williams
    Larry Holmes
    ??????

I think Bonehugger might last the distance.

I see major obstacles in each one of these for him. I am sure he would win a few.

I'd favour him over that version of Holmes, no questions asked.

I reckon he'd do well. Theoretically he could and probably should beat them all. Some of the guys with big power like Bruno could maybe cause a surprise upset though.

Spinks outbox him, smith outmuscle him, 87 tucker would have massive reach, height and speed advantage, Marciano was slow and small

Rocky was not the kind of Champion that made easy work of any committed world class fighter showing drive and ambition. So any world class fighter in theory gives him life and death.

However, this rules out quite a few of Challengers to Tyson so some fights will be easier and some harder. Tubbs, Thomas and Holmes just did not have the right kind of attitude or the right kind of recent opposition to do themselves any kind of justice. These challenges were not legitimate or worthy.

I think Berbick, Bruno and Williams turned up to win so they would be the hardest fights. After that it's Tucker and Smith.

But in reality most if this opposition cannot class as title fights.

The reign starts after beating Spinks. So that's Williams, Bruno then ends with Douglas. It's not much to go on.

Crusher would be a very ugly , boring fight ..
    Thomas should decision him
Tucker beats him, way too big
I have no clue about Spinks
Bruno might blast him out early or fold late
    Williams could decision him
    Holmes a toss up ..

He'd beat all of them. It's Marciano for crying out loud. He's from the same cloth as Ali, Tyson, Louis, etc. You have to favor him to win those matches.

Wouldn't bet on Marciano to beat any of them. Stylistically, Tucker and Spinks would be the worst matchups for him because of their size and mobility. Williams too, but for his chin. Holmes would only be a competitive fight because of the two-year layoff.
