Prime Marciano V Tysons Challengers?

This SHOULD be the KILLER BLOW.I say should be, but by now we know better.:-(

 

How much earlier?
He fought Marciano in1950.

 

Payne ,from the Flynn fight in1949 until he retired in 1953 ,had 18 fights he won just 6 of them,ie 30%.
Any suggestion that he was relevant as far as challenging for the title during this period is concerned is patently absurd.
Marciano boosters clutching at illusionary straws yet again!

 

Payne prior to challenging Shkor is irrelevant to the discussion. Bottom line he was not a leading contender when he fought Shkor he had won just one of his last three fights and that was over lhvy Ted Lowry,who judging by the fight report was obviously not full of ambition that night .

"Lowry offered very little offense in the bout, as he grabbed, clinched, and landed lightly to Payne's body. Lowry decided to open up in the 7th round, and landed a right cross on Payne. While this blow was landing, Payned landed a left hook to the chin that dropped Lowry hard. Lowry was counted out as he was attempting to beat the ten-count.

I made a thread asking a simple question but all you want to do is obliquely build up Marciano by inflating the worth of his past opponents .You've never made a thread worth responding to since you've been here, and all you do is clutter up others with this juvenile fanboy revisionism.
