Threads like this damage the integrity of Marciano fans and Marciano supporters.

Tyson wins and does so early. I said by TKO/Ref stoppage. Too much gulf in size and speed. Unless Marciano hangs in there and pulls out one hell of a performance then he has little chance. If the fight goes past 8 rounds then Rocky gets favored.

I give Tyson at least 3:1 to odds.

Prime Tyson('88) would bombard Marciano the first 3 rounds but The Rock's chin was unbelievable so I believe that he could realistically weather that early storm and gradually(very gradually) wear Tyson down because of his admitted stamina issues due to asthma and win by very late KO.

Keep in mind that I'm not saying this as one of those die hard Marciano loving suckers who think that he'd KO a prime Larry Holmes, I'm just saying that Tyson recently admitted that he faded badly in a any fight that went past the fifth or sixth round because he had really bad asthma as a kid. With that said, I believe that The Rock's chin and , more importantly, his conditioning and heart would give him a more than decent chance to get through those all important first 3 rounds. If he could do that, he'd beat Tyson and beat him badly the second half of the fight

It could happen but it would be unbelievably tough. A few years ago I would have said he would. Now, I think it's possible but not likely. If he did... it would be incredibly telling to what Marciano embodied.

I hate questions like this as I am a Marciano fan but the more I think about it the more I have to go with Tyson. Mike is bigger, faster and certainly more powerful than anyone Rocky ever faced in his career. When you compare the speed of Tyson's attack to Marciano and his opponents, the difference is undeniable as well as remakable. I'm not sure Rocky's conditioning would help him in this one as I don't see this going more than a few rounds. Rocky had a good chin but it was never tested against a fighter with both the speed and power of Tyson. If Moore and Walcott could drop Rocky and hurt him is it unreasonable to expect that Mike wouldn't either. And if Rocky got up Tyson would be all over him like a new suit throwing blisteringly fast and powerful combos, the kind Rocky never faced in his entire career. And while Rocky could punch, would he have enough to stop a man who is accustomed to taking shots from much bigger men? Rocky's only chance is to survive Tyson's early onslaught and drag him into the later rounds where his superior stamina and conditioning would play an intregal role. If he can do this then his chances greatly improve. If he can't then his chances are pretty slim.

Tyson. So much more accurate, faster.

You don't beat Tyson by coming to him. You beat him by wearing him down, being rough in the clinches like Holyfield and Buster were. Boxing him, then lowering the boom.

I respect your lack of bias and honest, especially considering you're a fan.

Marciano had one of the great chins ever. However, there is a HUGE difference between taking the punches of an 195lb Walcott and an 189lb Moore. Louis was obviously way over the hill and did not have nearly the snap and explosiveness in his punches anymore when he faced Rocky. Although he was still a heavy hitter who got Marciano's attention a few times. Tyson in his prime was on his way to becoming quite possibly the G.O.A.T. before the well documented mishaps with Robin Givens, his mother in law, Don King, etc.

Tyson would probably stop Marciano on cuts and have him dazed. I cannot picture anyone knocking Marciano cold although men like the prime Tyson or prime Liston could have been the ones to accomplish this.

Tyson by mid-rounds stoppage in a real barnburner!

If Tyson is to win, he better go full speed ahead. Which means putting his physical advantages to full use and getting Rocky ASAP.

However, if Tyson cannot put him out early, then Marciano has a good chance of gradually wearing him out down the stretch and taking it by late KO.

Not a fair matchup. Not only does a late 80's Tyson enjoy a 30+ pound weight advantage over a peak Marciano, he was also significantly faster. Conditioning will play absolutely no role in this matchup because of the weight advantage.

I recall Tyson sending a guy almost halfway across the ring with a punch. I never saw Rocky do that and I studied him more. And I see Tyson's uppercut being a huge problem since Rocky has that crouch defense.

It's wishful thinking if anyone choose's Rocky to beat Tyson.

Marciano would be a crusierweight by today's standers. He beat other crusierweights. Tyson is a heavyweight. Tyson within 3 rounds.
