Head 2 Head Marvelous Marvin Hagler would chew Glass Jaw Roy up and spit him out. I stated as much earlier in the thread.

    I'm with you. Especially @ 160

After about 6 rounds of stalking, missing and taking potshots and flashy combos from Roy,the indomitable Hagler begins to trap RJJ against the ropes. At first just here and there. Then with increasing frequency. Desperation begins to show in Roy's movements. Then you can see it in his face. Somewhere around the 11th round the battered and bloody Hagler gets Roy into trouble in his own corner and brutally finishes him with a massive lead right uppercut to the chin, knocking RJJ through the ropes and right into Larry Merchant's lap. :hi:

Jones was a great fighter and so was Hagler, so lets just leave it at that.

Take it easy Rico is just learning to post, and that wasn't a bad one.

Marvin would hit RJJ's chin so hard it would fall out of his ass.

    I disagree.

Roy would be able to stick and move and time his lead right over Haglers jab, then follow up before Hagler could counter him, for a fair amount of the time, enough at least to win a desicion, I think.

However, Hagler did not have the handspeed or footspeed to consistantly catch up with Jones and hit him with enough clean punch's to stop him, no way no how. The only way that you could hope to stop Jones at this weight was with one clean shot and Hagler did not have that sort of power.

Come on man. Dont start that **** too...:-(

First off, Roy cruises to an easy UD prime/prime. Second, Hagler in his prime doesnt KO Jones. He wouldnt even come close to hitting him flush. Jones' chin has only become questionable when he came back down from heavy. Before then, there were no doubts about his chin. It was solid. He brings up the Lou Devalle KD, as if that means anything...:-(

Rico talks out of his ass 99.9% of the time and NEVER has a legitamate argument to back up his ******ed claims. He needs to STFU and you should not follow in his footsteps

I can respect your analysis...but if RJJ keeps Hagler landing at like 10% maybe he wins...but Halger will find a way to make it a war, and Roy couldn't hang like that long.

It would be RJJs fight for most of the time, but when Hagler starts connecting Roy won't hold up. Marvin's body attack would slow Jones down. After Marvin lands a destructive combo upstairs, RJJ will pass gas and his chin will fall out of his shorts.

Rico is my son...following in his footsteps...??? :rofl

I'm trying to teach the guy how to post, along with the regular scolding, I decided to give him a little compliment because finally, he's on the right side of a debate.

Roy Jones is thee best fighter I have seen at absorbing body shots, they do not slow him down at all.

Watch some of his fights at LHW, he let big guy's who hit significantly harder than Hagler, pin him against the ropes and basically whale away to the body and it had zero affect.

If Haglers body work did work, which I doubt then he would have a decent shot at winning, more so over 15 rounds than 12.

If it did not Jones would have won.

Handspeed and footspeed would not matter in the fight. Hagler would walk Roy down start landing on that Glass Jaw and it is lights out for Roy. Don't give me this Roy had a solid chin crap, he was never hit by anyone worth a crap because he either avoided punches or avoided fighting power punchers. Lou De Valle put him on his ass for christ sakes! :rofl

Jones always has had a Glass Jaw he can't take a punch at all. I would not be shocked if pillow fist Calzaghe knocks him cold.

I understand your point...but at least you admit RJJ gets hit by a Hagler body attack, I would just state that he's not going to laugh off Marvin's blows like some of his other opponents.

I would also note that Hagler had great head movement, so thinking he will just bounce his head off the end of Roy's jab all night while Marv is head hunting...is not he way the fight plays out.

You still haven't managed an explanation of why Roy Jones could not beat a guy that got schooled by Leonard.
