I give Hagler a good chance, just not at stopping Roy. Roy Jones is adaptable too, and also could go southpaw. I just don't see it. Nobody even hurt or came close to hurting a prime Roy Jones.
The RJJ that fought at 160 (not his best) would lose to prime Hagler. Either by decision or late stoppage. Above 160, Jones takes it, but always by decision and I don't see it wide for Jones either. Hagler was too complete a fighter to be easily beaten by anyone really.
Jones last fought at 160 in May of 1994. He was 25 years old. I'd take a hell bent Haglar over a 25 year old Jones everytime. Especially if it's 15 rounds.
Not enough to discourage him from being on offense. What walking through? He would surround Roy late in the fight. Is it possible that you underestimate Marvin's boxing prowess and ring generalship? I believe you have already conceded that Hagler would land some body punches. That would make it easier for Marvin to cut off the ring in the later rounds. Once Roy started goin' to the ropes (as is his tendency when tired or pressed too hard) it's over. He wouldn't survive much layin' on the ropes. Again: Marvelous Marvin Hagler by late, This content is protected KO
No MW in the history of boxing could've "toyed" with Marvin Hagler. Jones would have to fight a perfect defensive fight for 12-15 rounds to secure a points victory over Hagler. Hagler was relentless and a near perfect finisher, if he caught and hurt Jones just once it's over. If Jones tires at all in the later rounds he gets KO'd. Hagler would definitely be the busier and more aggressive of the two which would more than likely make any decision a very close margin. There is only one way Jones could win this fight, and many ways Hagler could win it.
