Great fantasy match up. Prime Roy ever had is chin tested. It probable would have been against Hagler. But Roy was in such good shape in is prime, if he got caught he probably would have recuperated. Close one.

Hagler really isn't a super duper elite fighter like you guys give him credit for. He went life and death with Vito, had trouble with an old and bloated Duran and got beat by a past his prime and above his weight class SRL. Which just shows you that SRL is a whole other level of fighter from Hagler. RJJ is on SRL's level. He would smoke Hagler and make it look easy.

I don't feel like reading all the responses cause I got to this thread a little late but just chalk up one more guy for Jones on this one. He wins by a confortable margin.

Chucky doesn't see the typical Hagler being busy enough to beat prime Jones.

A bit of a stretch mate.

Chucky barely gives this nod to Jones.

Jones never had anything like a prime Hagler in the ring with him.

    Yes.

It's strange how we don't want to say more for someone so far gone, isn't it...:-(

Hagler is The #1 All Time Middle Weight to me and many others.

but some don't see it that way and they have him in their top 3 of all time.

...if they don't, at a bare minimum he is a top 5 All Time Middle Weight.

An inability to recognize this, proves you are beyond help.

RJJ ranks in nobody's all time top 5 MWs...:deal

He is easily top 5, arguably top 2. But Monzon was a better fighter in my eye's.

The reason being that he did not fight most of his carrer at MW.

I would pick Hagler by tko. Marvin would eventually get to Roy. No doubt Roy had great power at 160 however Hagler would pass the chin check test of Jones. Obviously Roy's tremendous speed would cause problems for Hagler but i do believe his constant workman like pressure would eventually start to wear Jones down. Also many people believe Hagler was always a slow methodically fighter that could not handle speed at all who fought SRL. Hagler had very good boxing skills combined with his awesome toughness would eventually get to Roy. I believe Roy would start strong but Hagler would slowly start gaining momentum and stop Jones escpecially if its a 15 round fight. If its a 12 round fight i can see Jones lasting the distance and maybe even pulling out a close decision victory.
