Prime Matthew Macklin vs Prime Marvin Hagler

I hate it when a thread dosent qualify as serious or funny.

 

Prime Matt gets the Caveman Lee treatment.

 

Its a shame because your a generally very funny poster.:-(

 

This belongs in the Lounge ,imo.

 

The poster belongs in the lounge, where I've seen him do better work.

This is a pathetic troll thread. As TGA says, Macklin would get Caveman Lee'd....don't actually think Macklin is even that good so I'll go for Marv' to stop him in the pre-fight staredown.

 

Everyone knows I love Hagler, but the sport has evolved. Macklin would be huge next to Hagler, muscle density, weigh-ins and dehydration chemicals have all changed. This would be like fighting Leonard, Hearns and Mugabi, at the same time. It's not fair to the Marvelous one, imo.

On topic, Hagler was smaller than Macklin at 5'9" and would have rehydrated to less, also they lied about his reach, so Macklin has the reach advantage being taller.

Not to mention that Macklin has displayed great boxing ability, whereas Hagler was just a brawler with limited skill who overwhelmed smaller guys like blown-up super featherweight Roberto Duran. When he came up against somebody good who was at least a welterweight, he lost. See the Leonard fight as proof.

I don't think he ever faced a puncher like Macklin either. Hearns didn't punch anywhere near as hard as people suggested, you could tell from his tall skinny frame that he wasn't a big puncher, it was all a myth to provide hype at the time.

Macklin comfortably inside 7 for me.
