Are you comparing Mayorga's offensive arsenal to Margo's?

With Mayorga you combine the chin and strength of Margarito, with the power and tenacity of Ricardo Torres. Take all that into account and Mayorga could very well be Cotto's worst nightmare.

Cotto took a lot of punches from Margarito and I seriously doubt Mayorga could hit Cotto anywhere near as many times as Margo was able to. The better question than Cotto's stamina is his chin and if would hold up against Mayorga. I personally don't think Mayorga would be able to land too many devastating shots on Cotto so I'd pick Cotto by UD.

There's no disputing that. Mayorga definitely hits harder than Margo does. What I'm saying is Mayorga would not be able to land the same volume of punches that Margo was able to against Cotto and the amount of punches landed was the more apparent reason for the stoppage than how hard the punches were.

In Mayorga's prime...Cotto is workin' his ass off to win a UD. And that's the truth.

Are you forgetting Mayorga's SERIOUS case of stamina issues...If Cotto can deal with his pressure early for 4 rounds...It'll be a downhill beating of Mayo for 12 rounds to a nice UD or possible stoppage.

You can talk about Mayo not being beat to the body by Tito, Oscar or Shane but none of those fighters EVER went to the body.

Seeing as how Mayo already has shitty stamina issues...it'll get worse with a body beating.

But seeing as how he's a pressure fighter, I can see cotto being incredibly reluctant to go to the body and instead opting to fight in the same Manner he did against Margo...In that case I'd say it'd be on points.

    Cotto UD

Mayorga by stoppage, possibly whilst behind on the cards. Cotto couldn't hurt Mayorga, but Mayorga at 147 was a big puncher. A Cotto decision isn't that unlikely, but i would lean towards Mayorga catching him at some point. Cotto has been hurt by much lesser punches.

Cotto is a better fighter. More consistent and better.

Bob Arum would never let Cotto in the ring with Mayorga in his prime. No way. He would pound the **** out of Cotto in 6 rounds tops. Cotto doesn't have the greatest defense, and Mayorga could catch him on that glass beard quite easily, even with his awkward style.

Mayorga throws all caution to the wind from the opening bell. Cotto has no way of hurting him, and although Mayorga doesn't have the best stamina, Cotto ain't exactly got the best in the world either.

sorry folk but.....i'll take Cotto by UD or late stoppage, outside of Forrest Mayorga never beat any elite fighters, but i'd give Mayorga a good punchers chance but still.....i dont think that would be enough

i'd say 7/10 Cotto takes him

The Mayorga that beat Forrest(the guy who dominated Mosley not once but twice) beats Cotto...and that version of Forrest beats Cotto as well.
