Not sure, im favoring Williams at first thought but he gets hit enough where i could see a prime mayorga (this fight would have to be at 147 then) getting his hits in, but ill go with Williams by decision. I think a prime mayorga is a nightmare for just about anyone at 147, but Williams with his size and workrate, i think he should probably win a decision.... i wouldnt count Mayorga out though. Like i posted in the other thread about Mayorga vs Forrest, Mayorga imo is a bit underrated at 147 and i could def see him having his moments against Williams.
MAYORGA is more relentless nd may hit harder than Margarito. I think Ricardo was da real bad ass at 147. He also had more speed than Antonio. They were about equal n stamina. If u wanna beat him don't slug, RUN. Run like Cory Spinks!
How exactly is Paul Williams at 147 going to stop a prime Mayorga? The same Williams who Margarito went toe to toe with? that Martinez went toe to toe with? The same Mayorga that took a Trinidad at MIDDLEweight 8 rounds of connecting 60% of his powerpunches on and then had to go to the body before dropping him? Highly doubtful
I think Mayorga could KO Williams. He had power and at 147 he had a very good chin, I tihnk Vernon is a harder hitter than Williams. I'm not sure Williams' workrate would be to his advantage in this fight. I don't see Williams KOing Mayorga, decision at best.
Because Mayorga is one of the wildest boxers in boxing history and PW would connect on a 45% powerpunch rate throwing 1000 punches!
The same logic could be said for Margarito, he is a walking punching bag lol. Williams is not stopping anyone with the level of chin a prime Mayorga brings at 147, if it was at middleweight... where Mayorga is a bit slower, easier to hit, ect, i could slightly see the slight possibility of some major accumilated damage, and i can see how you think because of high volume, thus high connect rate, williams will get him out of there i suppose. but with Mayorgas strength, conditioning, and chin in his prime and at 147, my own personal opinion is theres hardly a chance of a stoppage for eather guy in this fight. Just IMO
Mayorga by late rounds KO. Williams is too hittable for tha hard-hitting Rcardo Mayorga. You all can talk about Paul's chin all you want, but fact is he's been hurt several times and knocked down and we've yet to see him in with a great puncher the likes of Mayorga.
Prime Ricardo Mayorga 2001-2003 version at 147 beats Williams by KO We are not talking about a Mayorga that went all the way to 160 to fight Trinidad and still took the power punching trinidad 8 rounds to finish him off We talking about the most devastating Mayorga of 2001-2003 at 147
