Prime Mayweather vs. Prime Sugar Ray Leonard

Leonard would definitely win.

 

That's a bold statement seeing as your replying in a thread about a fantasy match up between the 2 he must be on his level.

 

SRL by UD or late TKO.

SRL has both the physical and mental gift to match PBF. He was also as technically sound as PBF. The biggest difference is power and punch combination. At 147, PBF can't match SRL. He would eat more and harder punches if pot shotting is all he got at this weight.

 

"Prime" Floyd was 130 lbs. "Prime" Leonard wins a lopsided 12 round decision over the best WW version of Mayweather

 

Leonard at 147 is too big and would beat PBF by UD

 

How is that a bold statement? I've replied in fantasy threads asking who would win between Pavlik and Robinson or Mosley and Hearns....it doesn't mean those fighters are on the same level just because they're matched up in the same thread, so I don't have a clue where youd draw that from.

Leonard outclassed Benitez, had a real battle with Duran, beat Duran, and KO'd Hearns at this weight. Nothing Floyd's done here even compares, and he's in a matchup where he's pinned up against a naturally bigger, stronger, a more skillful, and proven fighter.

No way he wins this one...not a chance. And this is coming from somebody who expects Floyd to outclass Mosley.

srl would win a decision. too big, too strong and had about the same speed as mayweather. the only reason mayweather sees the final bell is because of his defense.

 

Leonard, too big for lil' Floyd at welter. Leonard would be just as fast as Floyd at that weight, if not faster. I feel Leonard would have the edge in hand speed.

Floyd is an ATG super-feather/lightweight. Not an ATG welterweight. Some of these bigger guys would be too much for him, IMO. Not that it is a knock on Mayweather, but this is like saying Leonard is an ATG super-middle/light-heavyweight.

Competitive fight because Mayweather is such a defensive master, but Leonard would get the win.

 

Leonard would beat any of todays fighters from at least 154 downwards with ease, I think he`d take all the 160 lbers as well.

Mayweather would probably be his toughest test TBH & Id bet the house on Leonard in that one.
