I thought personally the Dokes who fought Holyfield was if not physically but certainly mentally at his best that night, and that was half the battle with Dynamite.

Personally i thought the Holyfield fight was Dokes best effort ever. What fight did he ever go better? That version of Holy always beats Dokes, any Dokes.

He didnt have the same "blinding" speed that he had in the fight against Weaver. Mentally he was up for task but physically was not peak.

Even still I think Holyfield may win a narrow decision. Though the handspeed would keep Dokes in the fight.

Like Ironchamp said, he was mentally 110% into that fight, but physically he was about 75% or so. I'm asking if he was at his physical peak, and mental, who would win the fight.

I really could see an upset, and a narrow Dokes- UD. Michael“s handspeed in his prime was just phenomenal, what a shame that he liked drugs like Prince likes men...

    Dokes UD 12 Holyfield

Exactly. A prime Dokes was knocked out by Gerrie Coetzee. No reason why a prime Holyfield wouldn't repeat exactly what he pulled off when they actually fought.

When was Dokes ever 100% both mentally and physically? The Weaver rematch would be the best of the early Dokes? Holy is a lot better than Weaver. Was Dokes on drugs at that time? Who knows.

Dokes was on coke. it should be obvious and he was known for having that problem. Prime Dokes had too much speed for anyone and destroys Weaver, Coetzee, Holyfield early in the manner of John L. Gardner.

Speculation. Seems to me that people are overrating Dokes quite a bit. We can go by "what might have been" we have to go by what is. When you look at Dokes' career - and when you combine that with the fact that Holyfield beat a slightly-past-prime version - it seems to me that it's pretty obvious Holyfield was the superior fighter.

prime Dokes is not overrated. His handspeed was immeasurable and because of it would beat their heads in with rat-a-tat-tat like combinations. Did you see how quick he put Weaver down the minute he got down with him?
