2 fighters in the same ring that Jones ducked :good Here you see DM taking an illegal blow from a fighter who became a 2 weight world champ and who some felt had beaten Maske, who Jones ducked, who DM rematched some time later and stopped. Here you can see Jones against against Del Valle who Hill had beaten some time back, and Zod doesnt rate Hill. He said that on another thread I could show [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp7h37fMneg[/ame] See, we can all show videos
Legit knockdown... I watched it live, I remember both fighters slipping around where Jones went down.. You can kind of see where his foot slipped, but still, that was a good punch and a knockdown... Great fighters are knocked down sometimes, then get up and dominate... I know you can agree with this.:yep
MW, Jones beats a nobody fighter (at the time) who did little and couldnt win his next world title shot SMW, Jones beats Toney who looked lucky to many against Tiberi and didnt beat Williams at first ask. How many SDs did Toney have? I rate DMs win over Hill above that. LHW Jones beat McCallum who Tiozzo had beaten not long before. At LHW DM beat Hill before Jones, beat Rocchigiani the 2 weight world champ who beat Nunn when Jones was avoiding him etc. I could argue either way as they creating similar LHW resumes. Titles dont make the fighters, its who you beat and Hopkins wasnt a formidable MW champ when Jones fought him
Typical Failey .. So Roy ducked Rocchigiani? I thought he backed out of the fight with Roy to chase the lawsuit against the WBC ? Oh I know you always seem to forget that in these arguments .Funny how thats Jones' fault . And I also like the Video of Lou Devalle, you know the guy that DM wanted no part of when he was his mando ! And by any chance did you happen to see his fight with Hill ? You really think Hill won that ?Least Jones wasn't afraid of Devalle ..Don't know about DM though .. And considering that flash KD anything is better than that sad little act DM put on in the video above in their first fight with Rocchigiani.I have never watched an 8 second delayed reaction from a low blow that turned out to be a DQ ..Pathetic !
Roy Jones stopped Virgil Hill with a single body shot, less than a year after DM UD'd him.. And it barely scrapes Roy's 5th best win... All you need to know IMO.
Who said its not in Jones top 5 wins? It depends who you ask I expect. I think Hill being a proven fighter was better than say the Hopkins win when Hopkins hadnt done anything DM was very past his best when he lost to Gonzalez, but I doubt you watched the fight. DM had a good claim to say he won that fight. Erdei > Gonzalez if you look down those roads
Kessler stopped A Green after Ward UDd him but we know that Ward beat Kessler. You are getting a bit wrapped up in a body shot that beat Hill. Jones lost to Griffin whilst DM stopped him in 4. It doesnt mean that much, they both won
bailey, You work very hard in defending DM. Just take it easy! man I like DM very much though. He should be inducted into the HOF.
This topic is laughable. This is the same Michaelzewski that got the **** beat out of him by Richard Hall. The same Richard Hall that Jones owned.
Not really a 'dream' match IMO. Michalczewski was a good champion who had a good run, but a 'dream' match is SRL vs Hagler or Whitaker vs Chavez, where two proven ATG superstars fight it out to see who was superior and settle the argument. Michalczewski was not an ATG nor a superstar, and everyone knew that Jones was vastly superior, there was never an argument to settle. It's a fight that could and should have happened, but no more of a loss to boxing than Morales (ATG) vs Hamed (good champion).
:deal This should be obvious to all. Jones was always several levels above Michalczewski. That's why he was p4p#1 for the best part of a decade, and DM was nowhere by comparison.
Jones got disqualified against Griffin, and in the rematch, Knocked him senseless in the first round, while Griffin was undefeated, and a top rated LHW... Griffin was never the same after Roy destroyed him... Getting UD'd DM, and getting crushed by a body shot from Roy in your very next fight, doesn't hold a candle to DM knocking Griffin out after he was humiliated by Jones in the first round.
