Yeah. So did Marciano. And so has Erdei. And so did Kevin Lear.

See where I'm going with this?

we have to see calzaghe's techical skills against a much more stronger fighter, but i feel he can withstand the attack of DM enroute to a close decision..i wont be surprise of calzaghe goes down

Very, very tough fight. The latter day version of Calzaghe lacked pop but was a rounded fighter with skills, resolve, experience, fast hands and in-ring wisdom.

Dariusz was a strong, rugged fighter. Very, very capable. I'd lean toward Calzaghe's greater adaptability and his hand speed to carry him over the line on points, he wouldn't have dinted Dariusz but it would have been a very intense fight.

Could Joe have done a Lacy on him, just about plausibly, but Dariusz was a much better technician than Lacy and more dynamic than Kessler.

Dariusz was pretty unique in having a lot of clean KO's. He hit a lot of people with the left hook and the big right hand and they did not get up!

The problem is that JC defence is also far from perfect. Even if I agree (partly for the sake of argument) that JC can win a couple of rounds, I do not think he can keep DM on distance and make him miss full distance.

And once he is down... well, I am not sure even those guys who helped him against Reid can help him. In the other words, if the fight goes to scorecards I can see JC winning, but IMHO it's a big "if".

i see where your coming from, but JC at super middle only goes down from the flushest of shots and even they have to be flash kds to hurt him, and we saw what happened to mitchell when jc got up again, jc started to hit hard, i think 08/09 jc would win a close split decision an 04/06 wins a ud

i think DM can really impose a lot of problem to calzaghe with his power. notice that DM is a risk taker but his chin is questionable..this is the fight that we could have seen how good calzaghe defense is..the lacy fight turns out to be an ordinary fight due to the fact that lacy is not a top tier opponent and there is a huge gap in the ability between lacy and DM

Calzaghe is open to the right hand all night long, so if enough of them land...... could be good night.
