Yes Cotto is the better fighter. Cotto is A level and Porter is B level. But I feel Porter has the style advantage here. Cotto's weakness is volume and pressure. And Porter is a tough pressure fighter. Could go either way.
Cotto doesn't like to be hit. And his stamina isn't that good as well. Mayweather has no power at 147. Micro-Pac at 147 has below average power for an elite, yet micro pac still destroyed. Margarito not a huge puncher either destroyed him. Torrey, Mosley, Clottey, etc. all hurt Cotto. So the question is when does Cotto not get hurt? He gets hurt pretty often for a guy who's known as a great technician.
Porter has lost close decisions with one actually being heavily disputed in his signature fights. And Cotto has been utterly destroyed (visited the ICU both times) in the two defining bouts of his career.
Did he actually punch all of them in the nuts? I can't recall. I know he beat the **** out of Judah's sack though.
If Porter can manage to get in 1,000 punches Cotto will eventually do this. http://www.thefightcity.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/miguel_cottomargarito.jpg
Yes, all the while Lampley and Merchant were calling it good body work. He punched more opponents in the nuts those are just the ones I recall. Fight changing low blows.
Cotto is without a doubt the smaller man, and the pressure style is his kryptonite, but a lot of porters aggression is so ineffective. If Cotto can keep it off the ropes he wins... I think.... Like I said it's tough to call, the matador against the bull
Cotto. He has more and better tools, hits harder, and is allowed to full-on nut-punch his opposition with nary a warning. Even if Shawn's maul-and-brawl tactics start to win the day he's a "body shot" from it all changing.
