Tyson has no where near the better chin!!

A prime Holyfield couldnt hurt an ancient Foreman but an old Holyfield knocked down and knocked out Tyson - Could Danny Williams have KO'd Foreman at any time in his career.

Tyson has a good chin but no where near the calibre of Foremans

I'd pick Foreman. I could see Mike boring in on him, George shoving him away and then jolting him with a couple of hard shots. Eventually one such shot would seriously damage the smaller man, and Foreman would finish him off. George was a great finisher.

I believe the boxing world missed out on George Foreman's true prime, just like it missed out on Ali's true prime.

George Foreman was actaully fixing a lot of his weaknesses as he was reaching the 'Larry Holmes' era. He was gaining more stamina, his footwork was improving, he was learning how to adjust to different styles. If he didn't have his religious melt down, there could have been a Holmes-Foreman trilogy.
Which might have elevated one of them to ATG TOP 3-4 Rankings.(hw)

I tend to think Foreman is top 5 and Holmes slightly behind at #6 or 7

Holmes would have boxed the **** out of George. Bad style match up. That's why George was not interested during their respective come backs. I think Holmes was the better fighter career wise and H2H.

Well, if Geooge Haven't quit he would have fought Holmes during both their primes. But that being said, I agree with you. Holmes would probably have beaten George up. Foreman retiring during his prime probably costed Holmes an ATG Win.

Holmes was well past his best when he fought Tyson. It should not be a question because he was 38, inactive, and had a long pro career. Holmes did well in his comeback because of gile and ring experience, but he had no legs at all. He also did not fight guys with Tyson's once in a lifetime physical talent. I would have loved to see Foreman v. Holmes in the 90s. In the late 70s, Holmes would have beaten the hell out of George.

Tyson vs George in 1988 would have seen Foreman get out boxed badly. People forget that unlike the great "Smoking Joe" Tyson had a great jab, right hand, lateral movement and counter punching ability. He was used to facing big guys like George. In that time frame Tyson fought Holmes, Bruno, Bonecrusher,Ruddock and Tucker who Foreman did not want to see in his comeback. These were all big men and I'd say that Bruno and Ruddock were not far from hitting as hard as George.

Prime for Prime, it's a tough call. Lyle hurt George, but I saw him a few times while training in Vegas, and even as an old man he was a big strong guy. Pre Ali, I think George might do well, but post Zaire George gets beaten up by Tyson who is used to fighting and getting hit by huge guys. It took massive beatings when Tyson got stopped. George was too slow and not clever enough to hit Tyson that often. An 87 version of Tyson beats everyone in the 70s including Ali.

From George's mouth in his own words

JENNA: Now George, throughout your comeback, the fight that most people talked about is a fight with ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson who was the champ at that time. Did you ever have any serious negotiations to get that fight and did you ever think that you would, and if you did, how do you think you would have done against him?

FOREMAN: There were a couple of times, serious negotiations were going on with the Mike Tyson fight. Mike Tyson just didn’t want to fight me. Not to say he couldn’t have beaten me. I mean, this guy could punch. The bigger they are the harder they’d fall as far as Mike Tyson was concerned. I guess that I have a feeling, his first original trainer and manager Cus D’Amato must have told him about George Foreman’s punching power as though I would never comeback. So sometimes when you come back and a guy remembers those stories, he says to himself, ‘Look, leave that guy alone’. But I don’t think I would have been that much problems to him. I had a good left jab and I’d always do better when guys come to me, but Tyson was pretty smart with his footwork and hand speed. That would have been a tough fight for me.

Regards prime for prime...I think it would've been similar to how george sees it...not too much problem at all for mike.

In George foreman's book "BY GEORGE" He actually said that he was a much better tactician in his comeback....he said that before, he'd throw a jab and didn't have no idea of why the jab was such a useful weapon, he used it to set up his right hand....in his comeback, he knew where to place the jab to get maximum effect.

Would be fantastic while it lasted but Tyson TKO for me

George love to compliment fighters, it is what he do. He said from his own mouth

'Lennox Lewis is the greatest HW of all times'. Even as a avid Lewis fan, I DISAGREE with that statement.

Not saying Tyson can not beat Prime FOreman, but no way he have a easy time.

George rarely fought guys his own size in the 70s, and avoided Shavers at every turn. In his comeback he did not want anything to do with any big guys that could box and punch. George was careful matchmaking in his fights that he was the bigger stronger guy. If he had been forced to fight the best he may have been stopped more, especially in the 90s.

Obviously Tyson would be a big favorite against the 90's comeback fat roller pig George. But that fight would still be good.
