But that fact is that Dempsey specifically trained in wrestling. He also trained in Judo. This is what I'm getting at, he was trained in grappling arts that allowed him success in the ring for both strength and technique when needed that other fighters don't typically have.

Holyfield's inside success primarily came from Bowe being stupid and allowing him to fight him on the inside. Holyfield didn't have the inside maneuverability and technique that Dempsey had. Tyson was never any good at inside fighting with any opponent. I'm not surprised that Holyfield had ease with him in that respect. In that same breath I would also say Dempsey would have the same ease simply because he had the inside skills. I don't understand what's so hard to believe.

Holyfield never showed expert inside fighting skills like Dempsey did. It was simply a different era in boxing and those skills weren't needed because hardly anyone used them.

No, I think that Holyfield probably kept the same measurements from the time he hit 205 or so around 1988 and kept it for the rest of his career even as he got much bigger. You can't possibly believe that Holyfield had the same exact chest, bicep, neck, and waist measurements as a 35-yo 215-220lb man as he did when he was a 25-yo 205lber. Defies all reasoning, given what we know about his weight-lifting and almost certain steroid use.

Bottom line is that if we saw 215-lb 4% bodyfat Holyfield next to 192lb Jack Dempsey, nobody would have any doubts about who was bigger and who at least looked stronger.

No I don't think he kept the same measurements his entire heavyweight career but when he was an effective heavyweight actually beating top fighters those were his measurements.

It's by no stretch of the imagination that these two guys would look the same size if next to each other.

Dempsey's biceps I believe were actually 18 inches. As for the thread Tyson bitches out when he realizes Dempsey isn't a shot blown up light heavy at the end of his career with bad knees, he can blow out in 90 seconds and subsequently gets knocked out in the 3rd.

Seriously? Trained in judo? I'm not doubting you, but please provide a source for that statement.
I'm certainly no Dempsey expert but I've never heard he trained in Judo. Especially since he didn't join the army during WWI when he may have been trained in martial arts.

Where did you hear they were 18 inches. That definitely sounds exaggerated no offense.

I can't see Tyson getting stopped in the 3rd. He always showed well at the beginning of a fight and could take a hell of a beating.

Yes, I read the source probably 6 months ago so I'll have to do some digging. No offense taken for asking for a source I would say the same thing lol

WTF are you on about idiot? So if someone spams 25 threads into us a day (example) we all just ignore then and flip to page two?

I doubt you even follow the conversation.

It seems others have commented on this thread too. But Thomas doesn't like it so it has to go. Sorry Snowflake, but you should run to the "mods" and whine some more. *****

An 8 word sentence is running to the mods and whining?

Dish it out at me over nothing and you'll get it back in spades.

I seriously fear for this forum mate.
Look at some of the names that have left this past year and the 3 or 4 new members who relentlessly post these wonderful Heavyweight threads, most of which have been covered over & over.
    Attention seekers, nothing more.

There's certainly a lot of those threads coming up. I think forums are dynamic tho, a lot of people come and go over time and the forum is what it is at any given time. There's still a lot of good people here and content, it just has to be sifted out a bit more. I have to say tho the posting knowledge and quantity here a decade or so ago was insane. So many guys have disappeared but then again that's forever ago.

I think the mods do a good job, they give us plenty of leeway while getting rid of the real trash.

I never said one word about being banned. Want to make more stuff up? You talk like you're a mean little butt kicker. Only, I don't buy. Any of you weasels who need help from mods, teachers, bosses to fight your battles are pathetic cowards. Then a nice "the mods do a nice job" to lick that ass. Brown nosing little punk you are. And you know what? Every time you look in the mirror you know it.

If you can't take it don't dish it out princess - simple. Stop bumping 5 year old threads looking for backup too ;)

You can get the last word in, you've derailed things enough already with your keyboard warrior internet tough guy act
