Usyk has the footwork and maneuvering to evade Mike. The guy has a build similar(ish) to Ali. Usyk will catch him on the way in, if Douglas can do it, Usyk certainly can too and that's no knock at Douglas either let me be clear.
it's not that Usyk doesn't have any skill, it's that prime Tyson would completely overwhelm him, prime Tyson is just so far beyond anything Usyk has ever faced, which was the case for a lot of his opponents that he scored fast knockouts on, none of that standing in front of each other bobbing head movement back and forth like went on with AJ, Tyson would be a constant onslaught
As I said in another thread this wouldn't be a cautious Joshua infront of Usyk, it would be a caged lion infront of him. Usyk has never come close to fighting a Heavyweight with the aggression/skill/power/speed of a prime Mike Tyson. If Chisora was able to give Usyk some uncomfortable moments with his pressure, I can't imagine what Tyson's pressure would do. Tyson feasts on boxers like Usyk who are movers with average power, Usyk wouldn't be able to keep Tyson off him. And Tyson wins by KO in my opinion.
Douglas was a 6'4 Heavyweight with a ramrod jab, they fight nothing alike. And were on about Tyson regarding his peak performances, not the 1990 Tokyo version of Tyson who was flat.
Good breakdown. My question to you is would you favor Tyson against Ali or Holmes based on this rationale? Or would it be different?
Tyson beats him, as he did Tony Tucker for me. I think he's got the ability to stay on his feet for the full fight but loses a unanimous.
Top 5 fastest knockouts? Seriously? Tyson maybe unlike anyone Usyk ever faced but the same rings true vice versa.
Well Cus D'amato specifically trained Tyson to beat Larry Holmes, when Holmes was the champ and Tyson was making his mark. He trained Tyson to land his right hand over Holmes's famous jab, and in their actually fight Tyson did just that with the 1st knockdown. I'm a fan of Holmes but I think Tyson's style would always be very tough for him, I think a prime Holmes could win a decision over Tyson. But at some point Tyson will land on Holmes, and the question is whether Holmes's great recovery powers, could overcome one of the best finishers in the sport. As for Muhammad Ali I think the late 60s Ali with his constant movement for 12 rounds, could win a decision over Tyson. Remember Tillis's movement gave Tyson issues, and Ali can clinch Tyson on inside with his underrated strength, clinching and nullifying Tyson on inside was also another one of Tyson's weaknesses.
if Cus, Rooney, and Atlas are in the picture Usyk is an afterthought before they enter the ring if AJ caught Usyk with his hands/guard too low, prime Tyson ends it with that kind of opening
