A prime Monte Barrett vs. a Trevor Berbick in the shape that he was in for the Tyson fight, so like an 85'-86' type-Berbick. Who takes it and why?
Barrett was always capable of pulling off upsets against fighters who allowed him to get into some sort of rythm, and Berbick did have a tendency to run hot and cold, even at his best. That said, the best version of Berbick grinds out a decision over Barrett, I think, simply because it might take Monte too long to get started in the fight.
Not a very interesting contest, IMO, but I think Berbick has a far greater legacy and would win. Barrett never really won a big fight...Berbick was inconsistent, but did manage to beat old Ali, Page, Thomas, and a few others. He rose to the occasion more frequently than Barrett.
I didn't figure people would find this one too terribly interesting, but I for one think that this fight would have been fast-paced and exciting in the long run, after a few warm-up rounds.
