Thought about this fight a few times over the past years and was wondering what some people out there thought about it. A battle of the great white hopes if you will, even though Tommy actually got a small piece of it in the WBO. Cooney would definitely cuz trouble with that left but Tommy definitely has him edged on speed. Id go with Tommy with 5th or 6th round stoppage.
Funnily enough, i was thinking about this thread just yesterday including the great white hope thing Aint seen too much of Cooney 2bh, gonna go watch some of highlights and then get back to you on that one.
At first my inclination is to pick Cooney. But the more I think about it Morrison would have a chance to stop Cooney. Cooney was a bit overrated, but had a great left hook. Morrison might have been underrated in a way. Beat Foreman, but had some fights were he lost concentration.
I agree, i recently watched his fight with Bennt, Morrison just got WAY too carried away when he had Bennt on the ropes.....i think he is really underrated. He did fight in an era which included Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield and Lewis though :bbb
Morrison was the better two-fisted fighter with quicker hands and very good power, as well....... Neither Morrison or Cooney had a solid beard, so both guys could be parked... However, on the whole, I'm bold and I pick "The Duke" to TKO Cooney inside 8 rds.... MR.BILL
