Larry Holmes paid his dues and then some. He's a first tier all time great. He got the most out of his ability. He wasn't Don King's favorite. King abused Larry, fuked him over by giving him short notice against good fighters Roy Williams. Took a good % of his $ and yet Holmes endured.
When he got the chance he got some freedom. Good for Larry.

Plus, Mayweather had a point: Larry got out of it with both his senses and wallet intact. More than a couple of ATGs didn't.

 

Uh, no, you are the one that is under informed. Everything I said was exactly right, and the press at the time of his first retirement knew it. If was only after the 90s and the comeback that his reputation was rejuvenated all out of proportion to what he actually did.

And if you have something to say to me, say it to me. Be a man. I'll be glad to debate you one on one, and you can explain to me why you think that beating up on the ghost of Ali and fighting Marvis Frazier instead of Greg Page are great qualifications.

Ali W UD15 (8-7/9-6 type of scoring). It'll be a close, competitive fight with lots of feints & jabs thrown. Imo, it'll be a little bit of snooze-fest at times in the early rounds (as it'll most likely be a jab-fest), but the action will pick up after the 6th with both guys letting their hands go & exchanging quick combinations (which Ali gets the better of more times than not). It won't be a blood-bath, & I doubt anyone gets hurt (let alone dropped and/or stopped), but it will be an interesting technical slugfest between two highly skilled technicians who will put on a great display of speed, skills, technical ability & athleticism.
