HE also beat Mosley in the second fight, barely lost to May (even though he was old) schooled Trinidad.

I have to say Winky would have been difficult but he might have pulled that out . But im sure he would have beat Forrest. WTF does the dude have to do,he fought a better level of competition than any one in the last 25 years(Holyfield too). Most great fighters of the past would have come out with a couple losses if they fought the same comp as Oscar. **** the Vargas fight was a big fight, Oscar haters forget about that, and dont give me this **** about Vargas not being that good he was on everyones PFP list when they fought. You have also forgot a roll call (literally) of other former champs and top notch opposition.
    Chavez (twice)
    Gonzalez
Quartey (pulled it out in the last round)
Whittaker (Close but no way controversial)
Sturm(the only gift he ever got)
    Castallejo (who knocked out sturm)
    Molina
    Leija
    Chicanito
    Ruelas
    Carr
Rivera( who whipped your boy Whittaker in the first fight)
    Camacho
Mayorga ( who kod your boy Vernon)
    Gatti
    Yori Boy
    Coley
    Paez
    Forbes
    Bredahl
    Dorsey
All former world Champs or legit top contenders

    Good post.

To say that DLH avoided or scurted around fighting Forrest is ridiculous.

Especially after Forrest lost to Mosley he went and lost to Mayorga, so financially and publically the fight wouldnt have been warranted.

Look...I'm not taking anything away from your Boy. He will be considered an ALL TIME GREAT...NO DOUBT. Pero IMO...I just don't see him at an A+ fighter.

And for the record...you should be Banned for putting Steve Forbes on that list!!!

:yep Yey anybody talks **** about Oscar not fighting those guys, just dont know boxing! Or dont remember what was going on at that time as to why he never met those guys. Just Nit picking.
They should look at their boy Mayweather whos got a roll call of guys he should have or could have fought, its almost looks like the roll call of the guys Oscar beat.

 HEy hes a former World Champ and he was coming off wins over Bojado and was robbed against then top contender Demetrius Hopkins so he wasnt that bad. Well if your description as an A+ guy is only for greats like Robinson,Duran,Ali,Armstrog,Pep,Leonard, well than maybe you got a point.
My opinion of A+ fighter is anyone who was at one time or another was arguably the best fighter PFP when they fought. And Oscar met that criteria.

Now just because I diagree with you...there is NO need to insult my boxing knowledge!!!

All i am saying...After Shane beat De la Hoya....Shane Loses to Winky and Forrest...And that makes Winky and Forrest name HOT in the sport!!!

In fact...Winky just keeps on Winning against Legit fighters...Mosley, trinidad, Quartey and a Draw with Taylor. His Name is HOT...Winky vs. Oscar would have been a BLOCKBUSTER!!! BUT NEVER HAPPEN!!!

As for Forrest...Forrest beats Mosley...Then Forrest loses to Mayorga.
So in many people eyes...Forrest name is not as anymore...Yet Vargas loses to Trinidad...But Oscar has no problem fighting Vargas who's name wasn't as Hot after his loss:think

Dude u got to be kidding me:patsch Do you really think Forrest and Delahoya would have been 1/10 as big as Vargas and Delahoya:blood Forrest was pretty much blown out by a huge underdog and unknown (Mayorga) at the time. Were as Vargas fought 12 competetive rounds with one of boxings elite and biggest stars. He was also still young and that combined with the hatred between Him and OScar. Also I dont think you have the slightest clue as to how huge this fight was on the West Coast and in the Latino community. This was like the freakin Super Bowl,World Series and NBA championship rolled into one.
Also i know this fight was even big in other parts of the country the fight got huge coverage, I remember they were all over Espn,Jim Rome etc. Most big fights dont get to much coverage.
A fight with Forrest would have only intrested hard core fans.
As for Winky blew up well thats around the same time they were talking Oscar/Hopkins which also was a huge fight compared to Winky. So your argument is pretty weak when you try and say Oscar ducked those guys.

That's right, Forrest earned his shot by beating Mosley. He blew it by losing twice back to back to Mayorga in his next fights. After that he virtually disappeared off the face of the planet for a few years. Oscar was at 154 at the time anyway

While Oscar wasn't facing a contender Forrest he was busy fighting all three long reigning champs at 147 (Quartey, Whitaker and Trinidad). He also fought Mosley, who Forrest made his name by beating later
