Oscar was the best welter of his era. If not for some blatant robberies and the fact his popularity made him a lil hated in the boxing community, he'd be a top 50 ATG.

But, Floyd stylistically has always held the advantage over Oscar. And no the 154lb bout between the 2 was not an SD. Anyone who says this was a credible scorecard is a moron.

Floyd won clearly 8-4. I believe the 147 bout would be closer, but I feel Floyd would always best Oscar in the championship rounds. Better stamina, and thus better speed when it matters.

At his prime Oscar didn't have stamina issues. Quartey, Pernell. Sure Mosley he slowed down a tad which enabled Mosley to narrowly beat him, but those to were swinging all night at a pretty furious pace. Floyd's style wouldn't tire a prime Oscar out at all. It would be a tough fight, but I think Oscar would take it by 2-3 points.

How much better did Oscar do at 147 rather than 154 against Mosley in your mind? Wasn't the Oscar of 2002-2003 a little more developed? I might be out of my element here.

Well the question was at 147...which is sweet **** all less then the 150 he weighed in for the Hoya bout.

Last rounds of the Mayweather Oscar bout. As you can see, Floyd completely takes over.

**** even Lederman knows the difference between ineffective flurries and the clean precise countering of Floyd Mayweather.

The difference wasn't the weight, it was Oscar's tactic that made the difference. The first fight he was engaging and trying to walk Mosley down. Oscar fights better getting stalked and counter punching like he did in the second fight. Don't get me wrong, Mosley beat a prime Oscar in the first fight. The problem was Oscar was feeling the criticism from running from Tito so felt he had to go balls out and go to war with Mosley and that was a mistake. Put PBF in with either Mosley or Oscar in their first fight and they both beat him

The difference wouldnt have been as much for Floyd as for Oscar . The difference was more for Oscar who was much faster than when he fought Floyd, Floyd only came in 3lbs more.
I dont see how any of you can say that Floyd beats a prime Oscar, Oscar was beating him with his Jab and he was old. This isnt Rocket Science!

Yup. I remember watching this fight at the bar and I could see Oscar fading after the 6-7th round and by the 9-10th I knew he wasn't going to win. PBF starting chipping away while Oscar was just following him getting countered.

Yeah, you're right. Well, in the case of that one fight. Oscar was better prepared second time, had a good strategy. He employed his jab throughout and used his right hand to counter. This was the main difference. However its not just a question of weight. Oscar at the beginning of the decade facing mosley and Oscar at the end are two different fighters. You can compare speed loss by watching his fight with Hopkins back to back with Mayorga fight. His 2 year retirement did him in.

Oscar was beating Floyd with his jab? Uhh no. Even Manny steward said around round 4-5 that OScar wasnt throwing his jab.

The only reason Oscar fans bring up the nonsense jab excuse is because Oscar said "I forgot to throw my jab and lost" WTF?

What really happened is Floyd has 3 gears. Most fighters only have 2. Around round 9 Floyd switched to the 3rd gear, and Oscar couldnt keep up. And that'd be the same at 147
