Hard to see how Pavlik has any chance against a much smaller guy who has been found by much lesser fighters?
A. of course B. not like Hopkins but he his skills are underrated. C. of course i would even say he has more talent D. you have a point here but Pavlik's best win was even outboxed and ko'ed by Abraham
Pavlik was nearly KO'd by Taylor and had his face cut up by Martinez. He has no defense and no inside game. He's not going the distance with Golovkin.
A. You're fvcking crazing. Mirada's power @ 160 was on par with Julian Jackson's @ 154. Golovkin is nowhere near that level.. B. Hopkins and Golovkin are not in the same solar system where skills are concerned. C. Taylor has the two Ws over Hopkins. Exactly WHO has Golovkin beat? D. Golovkin has beaten a string of BUMs, STIFFs, Tomato Cans and NO HOPERs - his name shouldn't even get mentioned in the same sentence as Pavlik's...
A. What? Are you basing that solely on Abraham's broken jaw?! Julian Jackson level?? :rofl B. Agreed. C. They're talking about raw talent, not resume/accomplishments. D. There it is, it gives you away bias wise. You can TELL that story a THOUSAND TIMES using CAPS LOCK, it won't make it true. Macklin, Stevens, Proksa, Rosado are "NO HOPERs"? GTFOH.
Miranda power was simply overrated (like the whole fighter) of course Hopkins has more skills but Golovkin is a very good technical fighter himself Taylor has 2 close wins over Hopkins but Taylor was also outboxed and Ko'ed by Abraham and won only close vs Spinks I'm sure Golovkin would do better vs AA and Spinks
GGG is this year's hype model and will be made look amateurish by a skilled boxer such as ward. Hes a great fight against slow stationary targets. If martinez was 3/4 his former self he destroys GGG. He should avoid 168 like the plague
I'm a fan of GGG but I'd take a prime Kelly Pavlik over him. He's bigger and stronger and would back GGG up behind his longer jab and I just can't see GGG winning a fight vs Pavlik when he's being backed up all night.
On second thought, Id have to see more of how G copes being the smaller fighter. Should he go on to move up, and beat large, strong guys... then Id stick with him as the pick. But theres no telling how he will react when hes fighting a guy bigger, just as powerful (if not moreso) and who may just wind up putting G on the backfoot.
This. Skill wise, Miranda has always been horrible....but when he was at 160, I think he was the hardest puncher I may have ever seen if he could hit you with that right hand hayemaker. The problem was, he telegraphed it and couldn't fight or generate a lot of power on his shots when he was fighting backing up.... which is why Pavlik beat him down.
kelly could pull the trigger in his prime unlike the martinez fight. he had a gigantic reach and atomic bomb type power. golovkin would need a bazooka to stop kelly. kelly via TKO:good
Since we are talking about Pavlik in the past tense that tells me all I need to know.. If pavlik were the real deal he'd be in his prime now making big bucks on PPV... but no. he's retired for years now while GGG is building a pro-am legacy.. GGG no doubt
