Prime Pernell Whitaker in today's era.

He beats anyone today from 135 to 147 minus Duckweather who would find a way to avoid him by taking a perfectly timed vacation ,losing the urge or using one of the million excuses he has in his duck book. Duckweather feasts on slow one dimensional plodders, Whitaker was the opposite of it hes the type of fighter that would make Duckweather look average and cause of it he would be avoided.

 

Nice fairy tale do you have more of that and if so i think you should write a book.

He would decision them all. Well, he would probably get one or two knockouts in there randomly

 

He'd be very dominant. He was the most entertaining boxer I ever saw, probably the best footwork I've seen also.

He'd be a top 2-3 P4P fighter in the sport. it would be very interesting to see how he would do against Pacman and Mayweather. Those are the only 2 guys from 135-147 that I think would have a shot against him.

 

At his best weight of lightweight? If we're talking about a prime Whittaker, at his best weight, he does great in any era. The only thing he lacked was power, which I think has been exaggerated any how. He is kind of like Floyd in the sense they have power, but don't utilize it, as they don't want to commit to punches and leave openings.

In his prime he had tremendous reflexes, one of the greatest defenses ever, fast hands, fast feet, he had it all. He didn't have any glaring weaknesses, he could beat volume punchers, was tremendous as an inside fighter, and could box your ears off from the outside.

I don't think there is any lightweights currently that beat him.

 

Floyd would have decisioned him 7-5

But Sweet Pea would have beaten everyone else.

He just can't beat someone as good as Floyd.

 

Roger is much more of an offensive fighter, you can't compare the two.

Floyd has always got hit less when he was being trained by his dad, look at his last two performances. With that said, Roger had him more offensive.

 

Pernell is better than anyone today p4p except for possibly Bernard and RJJ because of their accomplishments in their prime

 

I don't know about that. I'm a huge fan of both fighters, and if both of them are on their A+ game when they met, I could see either fighter pulling out a very close decision (narrow UD or SD.)

By you predicting a 7-5 win for Mayweather proves in your mind it would be a very close fight. When was the last time someone won 5 rounds against Floyd?There could be some very close rounds that either guy I think would be able to pull out.

To me, Floyd-Pea is one of the greatest matchups between smaller guys in the history of the sport. 2 master boxers with top 5 all time defense who were very accurate with their punching ability. It's as close to a 50-50 fight as you can get in hypotheticals between ATG's.

I'm saying that it would be a very close bout between two top of the line defensive masterminds/atgs.

I believe Floyd will find a way to seal the deal and clinch victory towards the very end.

But you're right, Pea's prime was at 35 and would definitely beat everyone at Lightweight today, without question.

 

Then it wouldn't be today's era, would it? Do either of them campaign at LW currently? Last I checked it has been many years for PBF whereas Pacman had all of what - a single night at the weight, ever? (and that quite a ways back now)
