prime Leonard was 147. He took on anyone, I mean EVERYONE, and either outboxed you with his speed or stopped you. What isn't mentioned alot is his incredible stamina as well. Since that golden era of the 80's no disrespect there have been other great welters, but even tho I like Manny Sugar Ray would beat him. Maybe not a ko or stoppage, but that Leonard beats him and Floyd their is not a doubt in my mind. Leonard is a top 5 welter IMO. Leonard was the goldenboy before Oscar and Manny came around.
That is true. My point was that to really find a welterweight to beat SRL you will need a highly skilled and highly talented fighter that is ATG level. SRL was so talented, skilled and versatile that one particular style is not enough to beat him H2H. Well yeah every 147-160 era sucks compared to the era of SRL, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, and etc.
Winky Wright:yep.jk I see Floyd and maybe Mosley giving him problems but outside of this era I see Leonard & Hearns at 147 beating him.
I know I brought him up just to mess around with Uli Uli because Felix did lose to Winky, in an embarrising fashion.
I am not sure about this. Leonard had a better chin and all around better skills. I am not sure Tito does well against a Pavlik type power. Winky Wright is still there and he beat an older Tito, but he still beat him easily.
Not at all. Ever heard of the Black Murderers Row? Not to mention the Welterweight rivalries of Robinson/Gavilan/Graham/ and Napoles/Griffith/Rodriguez
Just because one era isn't as good as the next doesn't mean it "sucks".. We have 3 HOF fighters fighting in the WW division in the next 6 weeks, that doesn't equal suck to me.. Why the hell would you even watch it if it "sucks these days?"
Mayweather is not nearly busy enough and Sugar doesn't run low on steam. I think a man even faster than Mayweather, who doesn't run out of gas, gives Floyd more than he can bargin for.
