As much as Ruddock may have entered fights without a plan, Morrison's tendency to not respect another's power or abilities was worse. In fact, he nearly got beat by the shell of Razor Ruddock himself - in a fight that was arguably stopped early. Both men had incredible power, a deadly left hook, and suspect chins. But Ruddock's whiskers were better than Morrison's, and what's more, he knew how to tie a man up on the inside. While Tommy certainly has a chance, I think that a 1990 Ruddock should be very heavily favored to be him...

It's admittedly a close call..but when they did meet Razor did lose and it can be argued that Morrison too had declined from his best which I think was around 1993. For my money, Tommy demonstrated slightly better sense and approach than Ruddock did...and he had better backing, not stiffing his trainers on an almost match per match basis as Ruddock was purported to have done after key losses.

Having a singular training philosophy and approach counts for much.
