Yet twice beat Forrest. Cintron in style is a homeless man's Forrest. And also.... Cintron was given hell by David Estrada, who's a homeless man's Mayorga.
laughing at some of these. damn I didn't know mayo had so many haters. i got the impression he was trying to be more of a boxer/puncher vs. Vargas who was already shot, but I remember alot of people, including the commentators, were impressed how Mayorga would hold back and pick his spots. I mean he ain't no Floyd Mayweather, but he almost did the same thing with Mosley in the first half of their fight and even had me in shock as he had Mosley lost until he figured him out and the rest is history. To me the prime Mayorga was puncher, no doubt, but he was the rare swarmer ko artist which every shot was meant with bad intentions (no pun intended). If they fought today, I'd give Cintron a Split Decision, Mayorga's been too inactive, but prime for prime, Mayorga destroys him within 5. Cintron needs that space to land his power and Mayorga is a doublefisted fighter not like Cintron that only depends on a his right hand to load up. Better chin, power, speed. Easy fight for Mayorga in his prime.
Mayo in 4. Too much power, too much aggression for Cintron to handle. 95% chance Cintron cries afterwards... after he wakes up that is. :yep
Cintron would have a punchers chance, but Cintron is so easy to hit. If I was training him I would tell him to box smart for a few rounds and then go for the KO. Mayorga faded just as badly as Cintron and was just as easy to hit, but smarter overall. Fight could go either way with Mayorga having a better shot early.
Realistically Mayorga didnt win the second fight with Forrest. He did stop Forrest the first fight but not because of his great skills, but more from Forrest fighting a stupid fight and showing mayorga no respect. Cintron wouldnt be that reckless with Mayorga.
Ive seen the Forrest-Mayorga rematch a million times... and every single time I score it 7-5 Mayorga. Forrest coulda gotten it also, but Mayorga getting the decision was very fair. It was a razor close fight. And lets keep in mind that Forrest was better then Shitron in every concievable area of the game. Cintron wins a close fight with slow ass Angulo, and suddenly he's a top fighter?
Top fighter or not Mayorga was never a world beater himself. Big deal he stopped six heads Lewis who had no chin and got lucky against Forrest once. I scored the second fight for Forrest. Mayorga is not better than Cintron, sorry.
So he has to beat someone you recognize to be considered a good fighter? Hes only lost to Margarito, and been fighting in the top ten for the last six years. Nothing suggests Mayorga is any better because of a win over Forrest, hes a raw brawler with little boxing skills. As I said he might win by KO early but Cintron could win by KO as well, he can punch as hard or harder than guys that knocked Mayorga out.
Wrong. He lost to Martinez also, and got a gift. I'm not saying Cintron's not a good fighter, but stylewise he's a homeless man's Vernon Forrest. And even if you had Forrest winning the rematch, if you doubt it was a razor close fight you're blind. Cintron is weak mentally, and doesnt have the best chin. All he has going for him is a powerful, but overrated right hand. Mayorga was no great, but he did have a few more things going for him. At 147 he was stong, very heavy handed, had fast hands, a very good chin, and wasnt the mental midget that Cintron is.
If you believe in the mental aspect of the sport, I think Mayorga did a number on Forrest from the first fight to the second. Forrest couldnt fight his fight and was hesitant from the knockout loss and all the trask talking that Mayorga did which definitely got into Forrests head. There was no great showcase of skills as there never was in any of Mayorga's fights. Mayorga was horrible. He was as open as a book, easy to hit and his chin is what helped him survive most of the fights. Cintron's not great himself. He fights tall, has no upper body or head movement and falls apart when he gets hurt, but he still does some things technically like throw a jab and righthand that could help him survive against Mayorga and possibly stop him, thats why I say its a closer fight than you think. What if he beats Williams?
Mayorga makes him cry at the first press conference. :deal Then stops him inside 6 rounds in the fight.
Which is exactly why he aint winning this fight. Mayo would hurt him at some point, and Kermy would fall apart. And its hard to establish a jab when is swarming you as quickly as Mayorga would. Mayo was alot quicker of both hand and foot then Angulo.
