That statement doesnt indicate a stoppage win. Just Duran would win a lopsided fight, as you said.

I think Duran beats him up down the stretch and outboxes him the entire fight, hence the double whammy.

It could begin as a good fight, but by the early-mid rounds, Duran's punches would add up. Especially those to the body. It would be just as bad as Mayorga v Trinidad for Mayo... Duran, easy

    alrite...
nevermind what my avatar may suggest about my leanings on this outcome, but....
did anyone forget that duran is, by many critics' estimations, in the top 5 boxers of all time category? like, lets not get wild here. and we're talkin prime duran? mayorga has no chance.

It would be Duran slowly dismantleing Mayorga over several rounds , with flashes of success for Ricardo. But Duran is just too much of everything for Mayorga over the long haul, and Ricardo eventually gets squished around the tenth or eleventh.

You forgot to factor skill into the equation, which often plays a role. In one corner you have an iron-willed, granite chinned brawler with little technical skill, in the other corner you have one of the most skilled fighters in the history of the sport who also happens to match his opponent in the intangible categories previously mentioned. Duran was the most skilled inside fighter I've ever seen at his best. Rewatch his first matchup with Leonard and study him. Arguably the best performance I've ever seen.

i'm one of the big mayorga fans on here. but duran wrecks mayorga's body en route to a late stoppage or overwhelming ud. if duran does'nt commit to the body much, i'd lean more on a UD. mayorga will have flashes of succes per round, but duran is just to well rounded. would be a hell of an action fight between 2 of the most macho guys in the sport though. lots of posturing, taunting, trash talking etc... during the fight.

That only happened with movers and clowners, not someone willing to exchange and stay within range all night. You need to watch more Duran, as has already been said.

I don't think this fight would even be allowed to happen, and if so Mayorga's management should be fired. He would get murdered.

Duran/Cuevas replay. Mayorga way too one-dimensional to beat an all time great like Duran. Mayorga thinks he`s a bully and tough guy? If he started that **** with Duran at the press conference. `Cholo` would take him out into an alley and throw him a beatin` for free... I see Roberto breaking him down and stopping him, mid rounds.

Beautiful war while it lasts, but Duran will out Duran Mayorga, Duran has superior power, speed, boxing skills, and craftiness. And Duran was the dirtiest player in the game with possibly a bigger mouth than Mayo. You could sell tickets to the Press Conferences and Weigh in.

I see a 117-111 decision for Duran with success for Mayorga in each round, enough to steal 3-4 rounds tops.

    Duran would bust him up.

Duran would slip or roll with most of Mayorga's wide shots and destroy him to the body.

Trinidad hurt Mayorga to the body badly. Okay, that was at 160. At 147, Forrest doubled over Mayorga to the body in the latter rounds of the rematch.

Duran had a consistent attack to the body, as well as upstairs. Duran by mid-rounds stoppage through too much bodywork. Maybe Mayorga lasts the distance and takes a one-sided beating, a la Palomino.

i know what your saying. it's be a god close fight but duran would probally stab him at the press confrence. in the rin duran out machismo him to a ud. after suffering a knock down maybe even 2 . people forget just how devestaing mayorga was at 147. his only real lost is to spinx who just ran from him . and the way mayorga would **** duran off at the press confrence it would be a bralw . how ever duran does everthing better then him at 147 except for maybe punch. harder. so i got to go with duran
