would there be anyone in the current crop of light welterweights able to give a prime ricky a run for his money?

imo hatton would be bullish against any of the current top LWW's and i could only see marquez giving him problems but what a fight that would be!

    any others?

marquez is 60/40 in marquez favour (hard to counter a smothering pressure fighter)

    otherwise, no

WTF? Judah crumbles mentally midfight and loses by crushing ko.

    Marquez would stop him.

Judah, toss up fight. Judah at his best didn't like pressure, but Hatton was vulnerable against southpaws throughout his career, even journeymen troubled him to a degree, because he squares up too much.

Saying that, it's the right hooks that he can't see coming, rather than the lefts. I'd lean towards Hatton but would wager anything on it.

Bradley might shade a tight decision in his hometown

Garcia, no chance, hatton all over him, smothers his left hook and renders him useless, that's a mismatch.

This quote, Pacquiao in your avatar, and your joined date of December 2008 lead me to believe you started following boxing the night that Pacquiao beat DLH.

Hatton was a damn good fighter in his prime at 140, and i'd favour him over every active Light-Welterweight. Certainly Garcia wouldn't have bested him. Bradley would stand a decent chance, but Hatton would be the favourite.

The only ones who have a chance is Timothy Bradley and JMM.
Prime Ricky would beat everyone at 140lbs.

Bradleys tuffness and adaptability might give him a chance - Garcia would get banjoed. DAnny doesnt have the footwork or power to really keep Hatton of him and despite being called Swift Hatton would have the edge in speed all night long....

Bradley V Hatton is a toss up, id just maybe lean to Hattons extra power and punch output giving him the edge

Garcia V Hatton = Garcia getting KOed

Great thread, Bradley is the only LWW in recent times that would force a 50/50 fight, but would still pick Hatton. JMM is now at LWW, but lets face it would sway to the Mexican; class act. As I have said all along, Hatton is one of the greatest 140lb fighters of all time, and does deserve to be inducted into the hall of fame. An absolute animal at LWW. Funny, I was reading old copies of the ring mag today, and Sept 2008 says Hatton was a sure sign hall-of-famer, yet the next issue/post-Pac KO makes him some kind of fluke. Hatton was the don, period. Just lost to two ATG's thats all.
