How about if Bowe and Marciano fought each other every year over a period of 10 years.

Would Bowe be consistant enough to steamroll Marciano 10 times in a row or would Bowe just have a window of about 2 years when he was able to beat Marciano.

This could be a battle of the most consistant HW of all time 49-0 against the least consistant or one with the shortest peak

I say over 10 years the Rock would win 8-2

I know how to quote properly, there was just one error yesterday that caused a chain reaction. Neither of us took notice during our exchange.

This was not what we were discussing. We were comparing Holyfield and Marciano's knockout percentage against similar sized fighters..Evander doesn't stack up. End of the discussion.

-Vingo was considered a potentional great, not unlike Bowe on his way up. By most accounts he gave a young Rocky his hardest fight so there was certainly some truth to the hype before his career was abruptly ended. The tragic prospect Vingo is certainly no Bowe, but its a fair guage of how the fight could go, easy to hit brawlers of any size didn't do well against Marciano. I was also being brash in response to Lefthook's post. My initial prediction at the start of this thread:

    Marciano decision or late stoppage

Bowe wasn't one to maximize his physical advantages, he would only jab sporadically and look to brawl on the inside where Rocky can get under his arms and score with big punches to the body and head. Holyfield had early success hammering Big Daddy in close quarters in fights I and III, scoring with countless clean shots but his lack of threatening power and elite stamina was his undoing. It was the wrong strategy for Evander but it wouldn't be for Marciano. Would be brutal though, could end up being the Vingo fight all over again.

-You are aware that it is written that Charles out slugged Ray...that Walcott forced Murray on his back foot, and that Moore went to war with Valdez in their rematch? Oh, you were just assuming they schooled some limited lugs.

-Those guys were good cruisers but Walcott, Moore, Charles dominated the best from 175-220 in their primes..save each other, Louis, Marciano, Patterson, and Ali.
