you have evidence of brain damage form that fight?

I would say watching that fight that it was obvious Bowe was out of shape going into the fight, and he still beat Golota twice. Shot Bowe beat Golota once, and to put doubt away, did it again.

Sanders was in condition for Vitali and on a high in contrast to his fight with Rahman where he did not jog because of a leg injury but Sanders rocked Rahman pretty good before he was winded and stopped on his feet, so we know Rahman took Lennox Lewis down & out with a right hand so he could wack. I wouldn't say Sanders had a glass Jaw anymore than Lewis. Vitali was an attrition fighter but destroyed Herbie Hide & Kirk Johnson also dropped Danny Williams pretty easily. Gomez,Solis,Adamak,Arreola,Peter,Donald,Bean,Purrity were all pretty durable guys when they fought Vitali and were stopped so like Carlos Monzon, Vitali did not take unnecessary risk& if he could coast and win easily but took his time and got the stops.

By the time he fought Chisora + Charr he was already past 40 and had 4 years off so I would say he done well. I actually thought the Lennox fight gave him the needed confidence and he primed in his next fight vs Kirk Johnson. Still 41 KO's in 45 wins not bad

Well , Sanders was never in good condition when he was a full time boxer in his prime. He was in terrible shape against Vitali. That was to clear to see just by looking at him and even more clear when he totally gassed after a few rounds.
It should be noted that he picked Vitali apart during in those first few rounds before his gasket blew out. He even dropped Vit for the first time in his career. I believe he would have knocked him out had he been younger and supremely conditioned.
The reality was he couldn't even hold his arms up or move his head. Any heavy hitter would have knocked a defenceless guy like that out for the 10 count.

Yeah he destroyed Johnson , but he was in even worse condition than Sanders was . Didn't the HBO team say Vitali had just harpooned a whale?
Can't agree he destroyed Hide. Hide seemed to quit off a punch that did not land. He was ahead too even it only ended up a two rounder. Bowe gave undefeated Hide a terrible pasting.

If we're talking about stopping C levelers , none is more impressive than Bowe's two round obliteration of Jesse Ferguson .
Prime Iron Mike could not stop Jesse. Neither could big hitters - Douglas , MaCall , Golta , Smith , Rahman and Mercer in two fights. All those guys were in their prime too. Kirk never fought anybody.
Bowe's record has depth to it. Vitali's is as shallow as a puddle of rain water. The HW landscape while he was around very weak.
Futhermore, 92 Holyfield would have made easy work out of him. Angles beat straight lines all day long.

    Great post.

Just a couple of points, though.

Sanders wasn't in the greatest of shape for the Vitali fight. He'd looked pretty good when he stepped in against Wlad, but clearly the time between Wlad and Vits had been spent at braais and family gatherings instead of on the road, jogging. When I saw how bloated he looked I knew that if he didn't get Klitschko out there early he was going to get beat down. I thought that he'd have a fair chance, given his lightning hands, and he nearly did it, but Vitali adjusted and used distance games to make Sanders miss for the rest of the fight. Corrie hardly ever had such a poor connect rate before; it shows you just how good Vit's defence and chin were.

In the Rahman fight Sanders dropped Rahman once clearly, arguably twice where they both caught each other and Rahman fell back into a squat and grabbed the ropes to keep himself from touching canvas. I have great respect for Rahman in that fight; he was getting blown away early on but managed to keep calm and collected, ate his shots and came roaring back. Just shows what Hasim could do if he was motivated enough.

I think Sanders had an average - to - fair chin. He had a tendency to get clipped by shots early on, but as he got older he seemed less chinny to me and he shipped a boatload of damage against Vitali and kept soldiering on. Some big hitters like Cooper also caught him clean with big shots and he never went anywhere.
