Prime Riddick Bowe vs Vitali Klitchko?

Bowe must be one of the dumbest fighters ever. This guy is 6"5 and FIGHTS ON THE INSIDE! Like if he was 6"0. The simple fact that Bowe is eating numerous -> JABS <- from Holyfield shows the shortcomings of Bowe.

Bowe had ZERO foot work too. Whenever Holyfield stumbled towards Bowe, Bowe simply lowered his head and tried the good ole' American "forehead to forehead" hook-punching infight game. Yes, it looks entertaining to the casual observer (who doesn't have a clue about boxing) but that's just how boxers react who don't know any better. Anybody who has the tools (jab, footwork, superior ring intelligence) would NEVER box like Bowe was forced to simply because he didn't know any better.

Any serious tall boxer would neutralize Holyfield on the inside, sidestep when he comes forward and box him from the outside. Just like Lewis did. And if Holyfield comes crashing into you with his head you simply hold him and lean on that SOB. So simple.

 

The problem here is that some people here are underestimating PRIME Bowe.

- Bowe was a big man with an exceptional jab.

- Bowe had very good defense,taught to him by Eddie Futch.

- Bowe beat Prime Holy Holyfield. That Bowe would not be an easy fight for any heavyweight from any era.

- Bowe was a great inside fighter

- Bowe had great power and a big heart

If some of you really think Vitali would have an easy time with him than just look at the Lewis - Vitali fight. Prime Bowe was a superior than Lewis that night.every who kows boxing agrees with that.

 

The entire Bowe argument is based on his fights against Holyfield. NOTHING ELSE. If you take away Holyfield (which I believe was embarrassingly exposed as a blown up CW by Lewis) then Bowe is just another overrated US slugger who was unable to use his 6"5 height advantage. A 6"5 man who boxes like he was 6"0.

Bowe with his unquestionable tremendous talent and physical parameters should have ruled his division for AT LEAST 10 years, just like Lewis did. The sole fact that he was unable to perform in a consistent manner puts a huge question mark on his entire legacy.

Bowe is hugely overrated. He boxed dumb, not smart. He boxed entertaining, but employing an entirely wrong strategy considering his height. I am not even going to start with the lack of discipline in the gym and his mental issues (not being able to face Lewis).

You don't get it. A 6"5 man shouldn't box smaller guys with the US head-to-head slugger style. It is stupid, it is dangerous, and it loses fights. This is part of the reason (apart from his mental issues) why Bowe never became the ruling champion that he could have become!

 

Not a day goes past where there is not a thread which concludes that Vitali is the H2H GOAT.

 

I was merely pointing out some facts about Bowe's ability because some idiots like you lack fundamental boxing knowledge. If you do not see the skill level in Bowe you certainly have no clue about boxing which is certainly the case.

Your whole post is NONSENSE. You ignore the fact that Lewis was heavy and out of prime. Then you go on and criticise Bowe for his resume and wins over Hoylfield, yet ignore the fact that Vitali that has not even beaten someone like Holyfield. blabalabla....just a bunch of NONSENSE posted by an *******. :hi:
