Good call:thumbsup I love that one. How the HELL did this thread turn into arguing that Bowe's prime was short and peaked with Holyfield? I thought that was common boxing knowledge! And why is this suddenly a Wlad bashing thread?? Wlad is great, Bowe could have been. We're wasting time arguing facts rather than the matter at hand: Wlad vs Bowe.

This should be about comparing their fights and styles to determine a winner.

Bowe (from Holy 1) vs. Wlad (from Peter fight onward)

Yes that is correct, he won the fight but barely, certainly not a stellar performance by Bowe. Bowe even as a shot fighter was a big puncher, thats why Golota fouled out in both fights. :good

 

I agree that he took Golota lightly...but to say that because he came in at a lower weight, yet ignore everything else that was happening surrounding his life is just plain insanity. Which is the perfect word to use, let me explain why.

Right after the Golota fights, he tried to enroll in the military...randomly and out of nowhere. He lasted 11 days. Right after that, three months to be exact, he was arrested for kidnapping his family and pled INSANITY DUE TO BRAIN DAMAGE!!! This is three months after two fights where he not only did not look himself (both physically and athletically), but also was right around where his speech and motor skills deteriorated (go watch him speak prior to the Holyfield fights, then after them).

Just because he looked better from a physical standpoint, does NOT mean he was not damaged goods when he walked through the ropes to fight Golota both of those times. He was past his prime...and SHOT! This again is proven by his actions leading up to (the horrible training regimine) and immediately afterwards.

This is also the problem...a PRIME Riddick Bowe was so much more shortlived than most great fighters. I mean, that window was so small...that most overlook just how great he was inside of it. His mental state and lack of effort (which his trainer attributed to his mental state) ruined that for us all. I suggest you go watch some Bowe pre-Holyfield and against Holyfield to see an absolute BEAUTIFUL HW FIGHTER!!!!

 

a well past his prime fighter did yeah. watch holy's performance in that fight. it was **** to. two fighters who were not at their best. one came out on top. watch holy vs. czyz. holyfield looked horrible there and then put on a great performance after. it happens sometimes. holyfield was not at his best during bowe 3 which is why bowe was able to do what he did

 

Bowe was a contender during the Ruddock fights, he fought on Tysons undercard. Tyson went to prison before Bowe became the #1 contender, thats why he fought Holyfield. Moorer:huh? Foreman wanted no part of Bowe said it many times. Lewis probably hurt his chances a little by getting knocked out by Mcall, but that fight should have happened. Fighting Holyfield three times kept Bowe pretty busy I would say.

 

I am not going to give this pathetic thread anymore of my time. Just love how hilarious it is to start a thread with a video of Bowe beating Gonzalez as a reason why he would beat Wlad today... and then watch as they all scramble to convince everyone that Bowe was completely shot against Golota as an excuse for getting his ears boxed off.... which was only 13 months after the Gonzalez fight that this thread was built around.:rofl:rofl

Its people like you that are ruining heavyweight boxing, because you can be sold on a fighter who has built his resume on a bunch of powder puffs. As long as you keep buying it, the promoters are going to keep selling it to you. You were probably a big fan of Calzahge and Hatton when they fought under Frank Warren.

I was just arguing that bowe's prime was short and he wasn't at his best for golota. poor widdow, if he had actually argued about the fight he might have made more sense. instead he tried convincing us a shot fight was at his best in his last fight and that wlad would have beat him no problem.
