I'm British and I love Calzaghe but if we are talking about a prime Roy Jones then Calzaghe can't win the fight. Roy's advantages in speed, power, elusiveness and footwork would make themselves apparent. Either Roy takes a UD or if he turns in one of his more spirited performances he might just get the late stoppage.

Roy NEVER beat a Unified, Linear, or Undisputed champion in his whole career. Case closed.

The Calzaghe slap argument is a nonsense, since it's his prime we're talking about. He could bang pre 2003.
    In any case, UD Jones.

everyone is entitled to there opinion. but joe saying that rjj looked human after tarver 1 shows he knows him self what would have happened. he was a great fighter so his workrate gives everyone problems but that problem rjj would have worked out. i just think joe would walk in to a lot of big shots and be stopped at some point in the fight. in there fight rjj knew what he needed to do to beat him but did not have the tools no more in his day we all deep down no that rjj wins one way or another

Why did Joe say Jones looked human after Tarver 1 ?, what happened in American sports prior to Jones being ordinary, I tell you what happened, the BALCO scandel, thats what, even before BALCO, there was 'ripped fuel' ever heard of that 'route1' if you have not ask Roy Jones, he knows all about it, of course it could be coincidence Roy being ordinary after BALCO got busted, what do I know sat in Wales thousands of miles away.

it could be that OR the drastic effects of the weight loss from the ruiz fight. we can say that he was a vastly different fighter for tarver than he was for say, woods

From what I've seen, Roy Jones had one (good) game plan which worked for a long time - then he got found out, his flaws were exposed, and he became merely ordinary. Calzaghe, on the other hand, didn't seem (to me) to have any game plan. Instead, he developed a counter-style for each opponent as the fight progressed. If he could last past the first couple of rounds against a prime RJJ, I'd be more inclined toward favouring Calzaghe.

LMAO what flaws were those? It had nothing to do with the weight drop that made him easier to figure out huh? Seeing as how James Toney a brilliant technician got spanked by a prime jones. I agree Joe has a great boxing brain but I think it would only serve him in quickly realizing he was outgunned in this fight. Roy just has too many physical advantages over Calzaghe.

Joe outclassed Roy Jones in his own country when they finally fought, Joe was even showboating, if Joes hands were not shot, I dread to think what would have happened to Jones.

So it wasnt that he got old?

If this "game plan" hadnt been figured out, he would be world champion at 60 would he?

If Roy was in his prime, it wouldnt matter about Joe's hands, cause he wouldnt have been landing much.

Yeah and Larry Holmes beat Muhammed Ali. Kevin Mcbride beat Mike Tyson. Chavez Jr could probablly beat his dad but it would mean about as much as Calzaghe vs. Jones.

Yep. Just watch those first 22 odd fights and note he got a bunch of TKOs versus bums, fat guys, old men, and old fat guys with big bums.
