I agree with the thrust of your argument but don't insult Kessler because you hate Calzaghe. It's not Kessler's fault that Cals avoided challenges.

Roid Jones would lose to Calzaghe. Roid ran from Michalczewski for years.

People seem to forget the dark days of Calzaghs's career when he was involved in 12 round snorefests against sub standard fighters like Thornberry, Starie and Jimenez or simply fighting no hopers in complete mismatches. Calzaghe's viewing figures were also low which was one of the reasons why Warren had to go running off to ITV as Skysports were no longer willing to pay good money for crap fights that nobody wanted to see.

Calzaghe may have reignited the spark in his three fights with Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins (the RJJ fight doesn't count as it actually had poor PPV sales and they struggled to sell tickets for the venue as thankfully most people saw the fight for what it was) but just three fights at the tail end of his career hardly papers over the cracks of all those wasted years.

RJJ may have also fought his fair share of handpicked opponents during his lightheavy reign but by that time he had moved through three weight classes beating the likes of Hopkins and Toney along the way.

Roid fought a postal worker, a janitor, garbage man, an alcoholic and who knows what else. He got paid millions by HBO for that too.

Roid's biggest fights were from his prize ****. He got into trouble for having **** fights. Wonder if he still has his cocks to fight anymore?

trampie im from ireland so i would not think your that far away 2 hours in a boat maybe. bottom line joe was a great fighter. roy was an all time great who will be remebered like ali robinson lenard etc etc joe will fade in to the background for no one will remeber him beating 40 and 43 year old legends while in his prime. and defining wins over lacy and kessler dont cut it for me. nothing against kessler but i would like to see a lot lot more before calzaghe gets the credit for it that use are giving him

It's hard to say. Calzaghe's prime in terms of punching power was when he was much younger - back then he had good KO power but that ended with his hand problems.

However, his prime in terms of boxing ability and ring generalship came much later on.

It's hard to say whether a more powerful but less slick 'young Calzaghe' would have given Jones a better fight.

Calzaghe damaged his hand early on in the Reid fight.

Calzaghe was 36 years old when he fought Hopkins and Jones both away from home, with shot hands, Roy Jones was 39 years old - not much difference there, Calzaghe battered Jones.
Hopkins was 43 but still 90% prime as he is a phenomenon, a physical freak, he proved he is not far passed his best by dominating every round in destroying the unbeaten Kelly Pavlik in his next fight after Hopkins had lost to Calzaghe.

Hopkins had agreed to fight Calzaghe back in the day and asked for DOUBLE the money the next day.
Jones asked Chris Eubank should he consider fighting Calzaghe, back in the day, Eubank told Roy Jones 'you want no part of Calzaghe, he is too much of a risk'.
So the two Americans ducked Joe, if you think they have better resumes than Joe fine, but would they have beaten him head to head, man against man ?, Calzaghe was a born winner, who does not know how to lose, he has one of the best boxing brains ever, he always finds a way to win, right back to his amateur days {won 3 ABA's at different weights, the first person in 80 odd years and only the secondperson ever} dont believe the Yankee hype, never believe a German, an Englishman or an American, because they always over hype their own. {all Anglo Saxon breds, 1st generation, 2nd and 3rd, think they are superior, rule the World ect

Calzaghe was for real and Hopkins and Jones knew it.

tell me were jones asked eubank should he fight cal? thats balls pound for pound number 1. 10 years in a row does not have to ask anyone should i fight someome. joe was good roy was great. i do agree there was some fights out there that rjj should have boxed in but unfortunatley they never happened. but if you say benn i think he was tailor made for jones and eubank would have got picked of all day long. gerard meclland was the only fight in his prime roy would have had trouble with that was out there. but because of his accident that fight could never have materialised
